Anna Frey

Frey began posting on TikTok in 2021 with a video from a trip to Hawaii. Her annafrey account features trending dance and lip-sync performances set to popular songs, including a dance to Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills.”

Her late-2023 “she plays tennis?” video went viral and received more than three million views in total. Her resemblance to football player Brock Purdy also generated significant attention in early 2024, contributing to wider interest in her social-media presence.

Frey was a blue-chip junior prospect who reached as high as No. 2 nationally in her recruiting class. She was a two-time semifinalist at the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s National Championships and won a state championship at the No. 1 singles position for Farmington High School.

During high school, she was ranked among the top ten tennis players in the country for her age bracket by the Tennis Recruiting Network. On the professional circuit, she reached a career-high WTA ranking of No. 803 and defeated the world No. 103 at the 2024 Cleveland 250K WTA event.

Frey graduated early from high school and enrolled at the University of North Carolina in January 2026. In her freshman season, she compiled a 16-5 singles record and a 13-2 doubles record while playing at positions No. 2 through No. 6. She went 4-0 at No. 6 singles and recorded a 3-3 singles record in ACC play.

She opened her collegiate career with eight consecutive wins, including a victory over a ranked opponent, and was nationally ranked for five straight weeks. During North Carolina’s NCAA Tournament run to the Elite Eight, she recorded three singles victories. At the 2026 WTA 125 Dow Tennis Classic, she defeated two players ranked inside the world’s top 200.

Frey’s recruiting profile lists singles as her primary position and doubles as her secondary position. She plays right-handed and was associated with private coach Georgy Batrakov during her Farmington High School recruiting period.

Her collegiate profile lists Farmington High School as her high school and identifies media and journalism as her field of study at North Carolina.
