Privacy

This page explains what happens to information when you read celebs-info.com. It is short because the site does very little.

No accounts, no advertising

There are no user accounts, no logins and no newsletter. We run no advertising scripts. We do not sell or share information about our readers, because we do not collect the kind of information anyone would buy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and how they arrive. It tells us that a page was viewed, roughly where in the world from, and which site or search sent the visitor. We use it to decide what to write about next.

Google sets its own cookies to do this and receives your IP address as part of the request. What Google does with that is governed by its own policies rather than ours.

This runs when you open a page, without asking first. If you would rather not be counted, most browsers can block it, Google publishes a browser add-on that turns it off everywhere, and any tracker-blocking extension stops it. We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. Google Analytics sets its own, described above, to tell repeat visits apart from new ones.

One feature does store something on your device. If you press the “like” button on a profile, your browser remembers that in local storage so the button stays pressed when you come back. That value never leaves your browser, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

What we count

We count how many times each profile is viewed, so we can show which ones are popular. When a page loads, your browser sends us the name of the profile you are reading and nothing else: no identifier, no address, nothing that ties the view to you. Those counts are added together and stored only as a total per profile.

The like button works slightly differently, because it has to stop the same person pressing it repeatedly. When you press it we briefly keep your IP address so we can tell that a second press is the same visitor. It is used for nothing else, is not connected to the view counts, and is deleted automatically, within about a day for the duplicate check, and within an hour for the rate limit.

Server logs

Like any website, our servers keep operational logs of requests, which can include IP addresses. These exist so we can keep the site running and investigate problems such as abuse or outages. They are not used to build a picture of individual readers.

Cloudflare

The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits between you and our servers to deliver pages quickly and to absorb malicious traffic. Cloudflare processes your request in order to do that and applies its own privacy practices to it.

People we write about

Our profiles cover public figures, and are compiled from information that is already publicly available. If you are the subject of a profile and something on it is wrong, or you believe it should not be published, get in touch through our contact form and tell us which page and what the problem is.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Some profiles describe people who are minors; on those pages we withhold certain personal details.

Your choices

• To stop the view count entirely, block JavaScript for this site. The count is sent by a small script and nothing else depends on it.
• To remove what the like button stored, clear your browser’s site data for celebs-info.com.
• To ask about anything on this page, or about information relating to you, use our contact form.

Changes

If we change what the site collects, we will change this page, and the date at the top will tell you when.
