Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz has been married to musician Benji Madden since January 5, 2015. They were introduced by Nicole Richie, who is married to Madden's twin brother, Joel Madden. The couple's first child, daughter Raddix, was born in December 2019 through a surrogate pregnancy, followed by sons Cardinal and Nautas.

Diaz is the daughter of Billie Diaz and Emilio Diaz, an oil company foreman and second-generation Cuban American. She has an older sister, Chimene Diaz, and was raised in Long Beach, California.

Diaz began modeling at 16 after signing with Elite Model Management. She appeared in advertisements for Calvin Klein, Levi's, and Coca-Cola, and was featured on the cover of Seventeen in 1990. Her modeling work took her to Japan, Australia, Morocco, Mexico, and Paris.

At 21, Diaz auditioned for The Mask after returning to California. She had no previous acting experience, but after a dozen callbacks she won the role of Tina Carlyle opposite Jim Carrey. The film became a major hit and launched her film career.

She developed her acting range through independent and low-budget films including The Last Supper, Feeling Minnesota, She's the One, and Head Above Water. A wrist injury forced her to withdraw from the live-action film Mortal Kombat while she was training for the role.

Diaz returned to mainstream success in My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), starring opposite Julia Roberts. Her breakthrough as a leading comic actress came with There's Something About Mary (1998), in which she played the title character. The film became one of the year's highest-grossing comedies and earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

In 1999, Diaz demonstrated a different side of her acting in Spike Jonze's Being John Malkovich, playing the frumpy, pet-obsessed Lotte Schwartz. Her performance brought nominations for the Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Screen Actors Guild awards. She also played the team owner Christina Pagniacci in Oliver Stone's football drama Any Given Sunday, alongside Al Pacino and Jamie Foxx.

Her early-2000s credits included Charlie's Angels, with Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, and Vanilla Sky, with Tom Cruise and Penélope Cruz. In Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York (2002), she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Diaz began voicing Princess Fiona in Shrek (2001), working with Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy. She reprised the role in three theatrical sequels, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After, as well as related animated specials.

She continued appearing in comedies and action films, including The Holiday, What Happens in Vegas, Knight and Day, Bad Teacher, The Other Woman, and Annie. Her dramatic and thriller credits included My Sister's Keeper, The Box, and Ridley Scott's The Counselor.

After Annie in 2014, Diaz took a break from acting because she had become tired of traveling for film work. She later returned in the Netflix action comedy Back in Action, released in 2025, and was announced to be reprising Princess Fiona in Shrek 5.

Diaz co-wrote The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body with Sandra Bark. Published in 2013, it reached number two on The New York Times bestseller list.

She and Bark followed it with The Longevity Book: The Science of Aging, the Biology of Strength, and the Privilege of Time in 2016. In 2020, Diaz co-founded Avaline, a wine brand, with Katherine Power.
