DeVonta Smith

Smith married his longtime partner, Mya Danielle, on June 13, 2026. The wedding took place at Disney World. The couple have two daughters together.

He is the son of Kelvin Dickerson and Christina Smith-Sylve. After signing his rookie NFL contract, he bought his mother a new home. Growing up in Louisiana, Smith drew early guidance from his barber, Vincent Sanders. Sanders served as a mentor and drove him to regional football camps. Outside of football, Smith organizes the annual DeVonta Smith & Friends Celebrity Softball Game in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to support community charities.

Smith grew up in Amite City, Louisiana, and attended Amite High Magnet School. He competed in basketball, football, and track and field. He quickly stood out on the football team.

As a senior under head coach Zephaniah Powell, Smith led Amite to the Class 3A state championship game. He earned the state final's Most Outstanding Player award. Rated a five-star recruit, he received scholarship offers from across the country. He committed to the University of Alabama over programs such as LSU, Miami, and Oklahoma.

Smith played as a true freshman in 2017. In the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship against Georgia, he caught a 41-yard walk-off touchdown pass in overtime to secure the title. The play became known as '2nd and 26'.

His role expanded each season. As a junior in 2019, Smith posted 1,256 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, including a 274-yard, five-touchdown game against Ole Miss. When teammates Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs entered the NFL draft, Smith elected to return for his senior year.

The decision preceded his 2020 campaign. Smith caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns, capturing college football's receiving triple crown. In the national championship game against Ohio State, he posted 12 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone before leaving with a hand injury. Alabama won 52-24. Smith won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the first wide receiver to win the award since Desmond Howard in 1991.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Smith with the tenth overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The move reunited him with former college quarterback Jalen Hurts. Smith signed a four-year rookie deal worth $20.1 million. On his first career regular-season target against the Atlanta Falcons, he scored an 18-yard touchdown. He concluded his debut season with 916 receiving yards, setting a franchise rookie record.

Smith continued as a primary receiver over subsequent seasons. In 2022, he recorded 95 receptions for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns as the Eagles advanced to Super Bowl LVII. In April 2024, he agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract extension.

In Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Hurts in the third quarter of a 40-22 win. With the victory, he became the fifth football player in history to win a national championship, the Heisman Trophy, and a Super Bowl title.
