Mia Goth

Mia Goth met actor Shia LaBeouf while working on Nymphomaniac in 2012. They appeared to marry in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator in October 2016, although a local official said that the ceremony was a commitment ceremony rather than a legally recognised marriage. LaBeouf later confirmed the nuptials publicly.

The couple separated and filed for divorce in 2018, then reconciled in 2022. They have one daughter, Isabel, who was born in March 2022. Their relationship ended in early 2025.

Goth was discovered by fashion photographer Gemma Booth at London's Underage Festival when she was 13. Booth signed her to Storm Model Management, after which Goth appeared in campaigns for Miu Miu and Prada, featured in the Pirelli Calendar and worked with magazines including Vogue, Vogue Italia, W, Love, Dazed and British Vogue. She made her runway debut by opening Miu Miu's autumn-winter 2023 show.

She began auditioning for films as a teenager and won her first film role in Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac (2013), appearing alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe in the segment “The Gun”. That year she also played Sophie Campbell in three episodes of the crime drama The Tunnel and appeared in Future Unlimited's music video for “Haunted Love”, directed by LaBeouf.

Goth played Milja in the post-apocalyptic thriller The Survivalist (2015), Meg Weathers in Everest (2015) and Hannah Helmqvist in an episode of Wallander. She later appeared in A Cure for Wellness (2016), Marrowbone (2017), Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria (2018), Claire Denis's High Life (2018), The Staggering Girl (2019), Emma (2020) and Mayday (2021).

Goth's breakthrough came with Ti West's slasher film X (2022), in which she played both aspiring performer Maxine Minx and the elderly Pearl. Extensive prosthetic makeup transformed her into Pearl, requiring long preparation before each day of filming. Her dual performance drew critical attention and helped establish her as a modern scream queen.

Goth immediately filmed Pearl, a prequel exploring the character's earlier life. She co-wrote the film with West and served as its executive producer. Her performance included a much-discussed nine-minute monologue and earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Lead Performance, while she won the Critics' Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Horror Movie for Pearl.

She returned as Maxine in MaXXXine (2024), the third film in West's trilogy. Goth also starred opposite Alexander Skarsgård in Brandon Cronenberg's body-horror film Infinity Pool (2023), a performance that brought further recognition in genre cinema.

In Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (2025), Goth played Elizabeth Harlander, Victor Frankenstein's love interest, and also portrayed the young Victor's mother in early flashback scenes. She played Melantho in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (2026).

Goth is set to appear as the main antagonist in Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter. She is also attached to Justine Triet's thriller Fonda.

Goth was born in London to a Brazilian mother and a Canadian father from Nova Scotia. Her maternal grandparents are Brazilian actress Maria Gladys and American artist Lee Jaffe. She spent her first years in Brazil with her mother's family, returned to the United Kingdom at five, and briefly lived in Canada during childhood.

Goth speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish, and has been described as fluent in Brazilian Portuguese.
