Mike Trout

Trout has been married to Jessica since December 16, 2017. They welcomed their first child in July 2020.

Trout's brother-in-law is Aaron Cox.

Trout starred at Millville High School in New Jersey, where he earned All-State honors in 2008 and 2009 and was named New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009. He set a New Jersey high-school record with 18 home runs as a senior, threw a no-hitter against Egg Harbor Township, and switched from shortstop to the outfield during his senior season. He also played basketball and football.

The Los Angeles Angels selected Trout 25th overall in the first round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He won the Midwest League MVP Award and the Topps Minor League Player of the Year Award in 2010, then was named Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year in 2011. He made his major-league debut for the Angels on July 8, 2011, and became a full-time major-league player in 2012 after a brief return to Triple-A Salt Lake.

In 2012, Trout led the American League with 129 runs and 49 stolen bases while batting .326 with 30 home runs. He became the first rookie in Major League Baseball history to record a 30-home-run, 40-stolen-base season and won the American League Rookie of the Year Award unanimously. He finished second in the American League MVP voting behind Miguel Cabrera.

Trout followed with another outstanding season in 2013, leading the American League in runs with 109 and walks with 110. He became the first American League player to record at least 100 walks, 70 extra-base hits, and 30 stolen bases in one season. In 2014, he won his first American League MVP Award unanimously after leading the league in runs and runs batted in, and he helped the Angels reach the postseason for the first time in his career.

Trout won the All-Star Game MVP Award in both 2014 and 2015. His back-to-back victories made him the first player in the game's history to win the honor in consecutive seasons. In 2015, he hit a career-high 41 home runs and led the American League with a .590 slugging percentage.

Trout captured his second American League MVP Award in 2016 after leading the majors in runs, walks, and on-base percentage. He won his third MVP Award in 2019, when he led the American League in on-base percentage and slugging percentage while hitting a career-high 45 home runs. He was also an eight-time All-Star by 2019 and won seven Silver Slugger Awards during that period.

Trout became the Angels' all-time home-run leader in 2020, passing Tim Salmon, and hit his 300th career home run during the pandemic-shortened season. In 2022, he hit 40 home runs despite playing 119 games and set an Angels record with home runs in seven consecutive games. He also surpassed Garret Anderson as the franchise's career leader in runs scored and passed Salmon for the most home runs at Angel Stadium.

Injuries limited Trout in subsequent seasons. A torn thumb ligament caused him to miss 39 games in 2017, while a right calf strain limited him to 36 games in 2021. He missed time in 2022 with a rib injury, suffered a left hamate fracture in 2023, and missed the rest of the 2024 season after a left knee meniscus tear. By his age-31 season, he had become the fourth player in major-league history with at least 300 doubles, 300 home runs, and 200 stolen bases.

Trout has participated in the Angels Baseball Foundation's monthly visits to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. He and Jessica also collaborated with the sports-apparel brand Tiny Turnip on a campaign titled "Your Game Isn't Over Yet," with proceeds from the campaign's exclusive shirt supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

His career has been featured in the MLB Network documentary series Mike Trout: Millville to MVP, which debuted in 2017, and in an episode of ESPN's E60 in 2018. In 2014, President Barack Obama cited Trout as an example of versatility and the ability to perform multiple tasks.
