Mistress Isabelle Brooks

Mistress Isabelle Brooks was born Israel and raised in Houston, Texas. She discovered drag at around 14 after encountering references to RuPaul's Drag Race on Tumblr and receiving recommendations for the show from friends. She began performing in drag at 16 while attending high school and cosmetology school.

By 18, she was performing professionally. Her early Houston work included appearances at Hamburger Mary's, JR's Bar and Grill, and South Beach. At JR's Bar and Grill, she hosted weekly Drag Race viewing parties.

Mistress Isabelle Brooks built her career in Houston's drag scene and became an original cast member at Hamburger Mary's. She has described her drag as "big, beautiful and glamorous" and as over-the-top traditional drag with a modern twist. She also refers to herself as Houston's "Heavyweight Champ."

After breaking her ankle in December 2019 and facing reduced opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic, she turned to wig styling. She created wigs for queens around the world, developing the business during a difficult period in her performing career.

She won the Miss Gay Louisiana USofA at Large title in 2019. In 2023, she joined the North American lineup of the touring drag show Werq the World.

Mistress Isabelle Brooks competed on the fifteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, where she won one main challenge and finished in the top four alongside Anetra, Luxx Noir London, and Sasha Colby. She was the first contestant from Houston to compete in the Drag Race franchise.

Her season included a Snatch Game impersonation of Rosie O'Donnell, a performance praised for its comic energy, and a reputation for sharp humor and confrontational commentary. She was also recognized for her makeup, outfits, Southern attitude, and plus-size representation. Many of her season 15 looks were created by Houston designers Yahaira DeHill and Gin Martini.

During the season's broadcast, she faced hateful online messages focused on her appearance and interactions with other contestants. Her Instagram account was suspended multiple times, and she responded publicly to anti-drag criticism. She later appeared in the season 17 episode "The Villains Roast" as a special guest.

Mistress Isabelle Brooks returned to compete on the tenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. The season featured 18 returning contestants and presented her as the "Heavyweight Champ" from season 15. She placed ninth in the competition.

Mistress Isabelle Brooks is Mexican American. Her stage name combines "Isabelle," the feminine form of Israel, with "Brooks," a tribute to her drag mother, Chevelle Brooks. The title "Mistress" reflects a commanding and sensual persona in her drag-name concept.

She has described Sugar and Spice as her drag daughters, and the pair's drag-family connection became part of her story on RuPaul's Drag Race. Her drag-family associations also include Jiggly Caliente, who is identified as her drag sister.

In 2023, Mistress Isabelle Brooks appeared as a featured artist on music connected with RuPaul's Drag Race, including "One Night Only," "Golden Girlfriends (Banjo Bitches)," "Wigloose: The Rusical!," and RuPaul's "Blame It on the Edit." She also released the single "Delusion."

She appeared in the music video for "Blame It on the Edit," performed by RuPaul with Anetra, Luxx Noir London, Sasha Colby, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks.

Mistress Isabelle Brooks said she lost nearly 200 pounds over a year and a half. She attributed the transformation to going to the gym nearly every day for a year and recording everything she ate.

She described the process as involving forgiveness, patience, determination, and personal evolution, while emphasizing that she was not finished with her goals.
