Personal life
Sabrina Dhowre met Idris Elba at a jazz bar in Vancouver in 2017 while he was filming The Mountain Between Us. They became engaged in February 2018 at a London screening of Yardie and have been married since April 26, 2019, after a wedding in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Dhowre and Elba honeymooned in Tanzania. IMDb lists Isan Elba and Winston Elba as their children.
Miss Vancouver and modelling
Dhowre was crowned Miss Vancouver in 2014. She later modelled for publications including British Vogue and Elle, and has been represented by IMG Models in London.
She studied philosophy at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia and earned a bachelor's degree, having initially intended to attend law school.
United Nations and Global Citizen work
In April 2020, Dhowre became a United Nations goodwill ambassador for the International Fund for Agricultural Development, known as IFAD. She worked with Idris Elba on IFAD projects in Kenya, Zambia and Egypt focused on supporting farmers, addressing hunger and responding to climate change.
