Sabrina Dhowre

Sabrina Dhowre met Idris Elba at a jazz bar in Vancouver in 2017 while he was filming The Mountain Between Us. They became engaged in February 2018 at a London screening of Yardie and have been married since April 26, 2019, after a wedding in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Dhowre and Elba honeymooned in Tanzania. IMDb lists Isan Elba and Winston Elba as their children.

Dhowre was crowned Miss Vancouver in 2014. She later modelled for publications including British Vogue and Elle, and has been represented by IMG Models in London.

She studied philosophy at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia and earned a bachelor's degree, having initially intended to attend law school.

In April 2020, Dhowre became a United Nations goodwill ambassador for the International Fund for Agricultural Development, known as IFAD. She worked with Idris Elba on IFAD projects in Kenya, Zambia and Egypt focused on supporting farmers, addressing hunger and responding to climate change.

Dhowre has also worked with Conservation International and Global Citizen on environmental issues. She became a co-chair of the European Board of Global Citizen in 2022 and discussed food insecurity, climate change and investment in rural communities at the 2023 World Economic Forum in Davos. Dhowre and Elba received the forum's Crystal Award for their work on environmental conservation, food security and climate change.

In 2022, Dhowre and Idris Elba created S'ABLE Labs, a lifestyle and wellness brand. Their companies were also announced as developers of Dantai, an Afrofuturist science-fiction animated series planned for Crunchyroll. Idris Elba described the project as mainly Dhowre's brainchild and identified her as an enthusiastic anime fan.

Dhowre appeared as the British Council Lady in Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022). In 2024, she and Elba collaborated with Christian Louboutin on the "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" capsule collection, with proceeds directed to six charities.
