Akaash Singh is an American comedian and actor known for his appearances on MTV's Wild 'n Out and his comedy specials Bring Back Apu and Gaslit. He has also been known for co-hosting the Flagrant 2 podcast with Andrew Schulz and for acting in Brown Nation and The Leftovers.
Personal life
Akaash Singh has been married to Jasleen Chawla since July 2021. Their wedding took place in New Jersey.
Singh moved to New York City while developing his comedy career and lives there.
Stand-up comedy and comedy specials
Singh began performing stand-up during his freshman year at Austin College, where he took part in his first open mic in Denton, Texas. He had started developing his comedy skills earlier through school talent shows. He attended Austin College from 2002 to 2006 and left its pre-med track to pursue comedy full-time.
In February 2022, he self-released Akaash Singh: Bring Back Apu on YouTube. The special received one million views during its first week. His later YouTube special Gaslit was released in 2024, and his comedy often addresses cultural differences, race, racism in America, and his upbringing.
Wild 'n Out, Brown Nation, and television work
Singh appeared in five episodes of MTV's improv comedy show Wild 'n Out during 2014 and 2015, and later worked as a creative consultant on the program. He was also a cast member during the fifth season of MTV's Guy Code.
In 2016, Singh played Mookie in the Netflix series Brown Nation. His other screen credits include a role in HBO's The Leftovers, along with appearances in Good Medicine, Difficult People, Red Oaks, Clickbait, and Fake News at Night.
Flagrant 2 podcast
Singh co-created and co-hosted the Flagrant 2 podcast with fellow comedian Andrew Schulz. The program was initially conceived as a sports podcast before expanding its focus to current events and pop culture.
The podcast released two regular episodes each week, with an additional episode available to Patreon subscribers. Singh later left the podcast.
