Apple Martin

Apple Blythe Alison Martin was born in London on 14 May 2004 to Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow. Her younger brother is Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin, and her maternal grandparents include actress Blythe Danner and producer Bruce Paltrow. Actor Simon Pegg and Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland are her godfathers.

Her name attracted international attention soon after her birth. Paltrow explained that the name was Martin's idea and that she associated apples with sweetness, wholesomeness and biblical imagery. In anticipation of her birth, Martin released the song "I Am Your Baby's Daddy" under the name The Nappies, while his experience of fatherhood partly inspired Coldplay's 2005 single "Speed of Sound."

Martin graduated from Crossroads School in Santa Monica in 2022 and began attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville that autumn. She participated in the university's Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and later studied law, history and society while taking part in Vanderbilt's Original Cast cabaret theater group.

Martin made her television debut at the age of two in the VH1: All Access episode "20 Cutest Celebrity Babies," broadcast in 2006. She later appeared in the fourth episode of the Netflix documentary series The Goop Lab, titled "The Health-Span Plan."

She appeared in a 2021 campaign for Goop's GOOPGLOW Glow Lotion and helped develop the product. In 2025, she joined Gwyneth Paltrow in GapStudio's fall/winter campaign, drawing on her childhood association with Gap clothing.

Martin made her society debut at the Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris in November 2024. She wore a custom blue Valentino gown and danced with her father. The event also included Paltrow, Moses and Blythe Danner.

Martin attended her first fashion show at Chanel's haute couture presentation during Paris Fashion Week in January 2023. She sat in the front row alongside Lucy Boynton, Sadie Sink and Angèle, wearing a black-and-white Chanel ensemble of a tweed dress and blazer with loafers.

Martin told Vogue that she favoured a personal style combining classic 1990s fashion with a relaxed, vintage-inspired look. Her appearance at Chanel revived a story told by fashion journalist Derek Blasberg, who said that Karl Lagerfeld had met Martin as a child and predicted that she would become a Chanel girl.

Martin has pursued acting alongside fashion and music. She is set to make her feature-film debut in Nancy Meyers's untitled Warner Bros. comedy, whose ensemble includes Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Erin Doherty, Jude Law and Owen Wilson. She also appeared as Ainsley in an episode of the television series Rooster and as Shelly in the short film The Glitter Fades.

Her music work includes songwriting credits on Coldplay's "feelslikeimfallinginlove," "Let Somebody Go" and "One World." She also joined the music group Jade Street onstage in Nashville to perform the song "Satellites." Martin has said that she enjoys singing but prefers musical theater, dancing and acting to performing as a solo singer.
