Bradley Martyn is an American bodybuilder and YouTube star known for building the Zoo Culture gym and hosting Bradley Martyn's Raw Talk. He became prominent through online fitness videos covering workouts, nutrition, bodybuilding and motivation, later expanding into business, podcasting and acting.

Personal life

Martyn's father, Michael G. Martyn, took his own life when Bradley was six years old. Martyn has discussed how the loss contributed to depression and anxiety and shaped his interest in using fitness content to promote positivity and mental-health awareness.

His mother is Diane Martyn, and he has a brother named Andrew. He has also credited his mother and his friend Brandon Gerdes with supporting him through difficult periods.

Discovering bodybuilding and the rise to fame

Martyn began training in a gym at 15. After developing his knowledge of exercise and nutrition, he launched the online fitness program BMFIT in January 2006.

He opened his fitness YouTube channel in 2014 and built an audience with workout demonstrations, full-day-of-eating videos, nutrition advice, motivational material and vlogs. His channel later passed one million subscribers in January 2017, two million in September 2018 and three million in January 2022.

Competition history

Although Martyn became better known for online fitness content than for contest appearances, he competed in several amateur bodybuilding events. He won the 2011 NPC Southern California Championships and placed second at the 2011 NPC USA Championships.

His later results included tenth place at the 2012 NPC USA Championships, first place at the 2013 NPC Phil Heath Classic and eighth place at the 2013 NPC USA Championships.

Zoo Culture, Rawgear and other businesses

Martyn founded Rawgear in May 2015, a brand that sells apparel including sweatpants, T-shirts and hoodies. He launched the Zoo Culture gym in May 2017 and serves as its chief executive. The gym is based in Woodland Hills, California.

He founded AlphaCre8tivedesigns in July 2012 and became chief executive of Origin Supplements in 2017. In September 2019, he founded Regenics and became its branding director.

YouTube channels and Raw Talk

Martyn launched Bradley Martyn's Raw Talk in September 2017. The podcast became one of several channels associated with his online brand, alongside Life of Bradley Martyn, Bradley Martyn Shorts, Rawgear Shorts and Bradley Martyn's Raw Talk Clips.

He has also co-hosted Mommy And Daddy Talk with Sara Saffari. His fitness collaborations have included helping FouseyTUBE with a weight-loss journey and training model Sommer Ray.

Training, nutrition and screen appearances

Martyn has described a flexible approach to training rather than following one fixed routine. His general guidelines include workouts of no more than about 90 minutes, mostly using sets of 8 to 12 repetitions, with larger muscle groups receiving several sets per exercise. A commonly described weekly split includes legs, shoulders, arms, chest, back and a conditioning day involving activities such as sled pushing, jump rope and tire flips.

During his competitive period, he practiced intermittent fasting with a 16-hour fasting period and an eight-hour eating window. He later adopted a looser approach that emphasized protein and fats while limiting carbohydrates, with some additional carbohydrates during muscle-building phases.

Martyn has appeared in Boo! A Madea Halloween and Boo 2! A Madea Halloween. He is also the subject of the documentary Bradley Martyn: The Influencer.
