Bronze Age Pervert

Costin Vlad Alamariu was born in Bucharest, Romania, and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of ten. He grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, attending Newton South High School, where he wrote for the school newspaper. In 1997, Alamariu and high school classmate B. J. Novak, along with Novak's brother Jesse and Peter Owen Nelson, staged a prank at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts by replacing the official audio tour with a surreal, profanity-laced guided tour recorded by Alamariu.

Following high school, Alamariu attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. He went on to study philosophy as a graduate student at Columbia University, earning a Master of Arts. He subsequently attended Yale University, completing a Ph.D. in political science in 2015. His doctoral dissertation, supervised in part by political philosopher Harvey Mansfield, was titled The Problem of Tyranny and Philosophy in the Thought of Plato and Nietzsche.

Alamariu began posting online under the Bronze Age Pervert pseudonym on forums in 2010 before creating the Twitter account @bronzeageperv in late 2013. The account, later replaced by @bronzeagemantis following platform suspensions, built a prominent following within right-wing Internet subcultures often referred to as Frogtwitter. His online presence combined classical imagery, such as Cellini's sculpture of Perseus, with bodybuilding photos, ironic memes, and aggressive denunciations of modern democratic society.

His writings and persona generated widespread discussion and debate across conservative, populist, and academic spheres. Observers noted that his followers adopted distinctive linguistic mannerisms and slogans such as "SUBMIT!" while promoting a fitness ethos centered on sunlight and weightlifting. Figures across conservative media and politics, including Curtis Yarvin, Michael Anton, and Darren Beattie, engaged with his concepts or cited his growing popularity among younger right-wing political staffers.

In June 2018, Alamariu self-published Bronze Age Mindset, an ideological manifesto framed as an exhortation against modern egalitarianism and institutional decay. The 77-chapter book drew on the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, Arthur Schopenhauer, and ancient Greek figures like Alcibiades and Periander of Corinth, arguing that historical greatness stemmed from martial prowess, hierarchy, and aristocratic vitality. Despite lacking traditional publisher distribution or marketing, the book entered Amazon's top 150 bestsellers in the summer of 2018.

In August 2019, Alamariu expanded his media presence by launching the podcast Caribbean Rhythms with Bronze Age Pervert. The show features historical lectures, cultural commentary, and political monologues delivered in a stylized Eastern European accent, with episodes frequently opening to Johann Strauss's "The Blue Danube" and featuring classical orchestral transitions between segments.

In September 2023, Alamariu published Selective Breeding and the Birth of Philosophy under his legal name. The book represents a revised edition of his 2015 Yale doctoral dissertation, supplemented with a new introductory essay discussing the biological and historical origins of philosophical inquiry. The work argues that ancient philosophical thinking arose from aristocratic martial castes and examines texts by Pindar, Plato, and Nietzsche to argue for a fundamental link between aristocratic breeding practices and classical political thought.

Upon release, the volume briefly entered the top 25 bestsellers on Amazon. Academic and cultural reviewers, including Tyler Cowen, Julius Krein, and Dustin Sebell, engaged with the work's historical claims and its Straussian interpretive methodology, with critics debating the validity of its textual interpretations and philosophical conclusions.
