Cole Sprouse

Cole Sprouse is the twin brother of actor Dylan Sprouse. He was born in Arezzo, Italy, to American parents Melanie Wright and Matthew Sprouse, and moved with his family to Long Beach, California, when he was four months old. Cole was born 15 minutes after Dylan.

Sprouse was in a relationship with his Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart from 2018 to March 2020. The two also played the on-screen couple Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper.

Sprouse began acting with Dylan at eight months old after their grandmother, Jonine Booth Wright, encouraged them to enter the profession. Their first acting job was a diaper commercial, and California child-labor rules often led the twins to share one character so the production could film for longer.

The brothers shared the role of Patrick Kelly on the ABC sitcom Grace Under Fire from 1993 to 1998. In 1999, they played Julian McGrath in Big Daddy alongside Adam Sandler, followed by roles as twin children in The Astronaut's Wife. Sprouse later appeared without Dylan as Ben Geller, Ross Geller's son, on Friends.

Sprouse became widely known for playing Cody Martin on the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, which ran from 2005 to 2008. Dylan played Cody's twin brother, Zack Martin. The series established the brothers as major young television stars.

Sprouse reprised Cody in the spin-off The Suite Life on Deck from 2008 to 2011 and in The Suite Life Movie. The twins also appeared as the Martin brothers in crossover episodes of That's So Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana and I'm in the Band.

The brothers expanded the franchise through the Sprouse Bros brand, which included clothing, a magazine and a book series. The brand was developed through a licensing agreement with Dualstar Entertainment, and their association with the company ended in 2008.

After leaving acting to attend university, Sprouse returned to television when he was cast as Jughead Jones in The CW drama Riverdale. The series premiered in 2017 and was based on characters from Archie Comics. Jughead served as an outsider and narrator within the show's noir-influenced interpretation of the comics.

Sprouse received multiple awards for the role, including Teen Choice Awards for Choice Drama TV Actor. Riverdale concluded its seven-season run in 2023.

In 2019, Sprouse starred as Will Newman in the romantic drama Five Feet Apart, opposite Haley Lu Richardson. He played a patient with cystic fibrosis who develops feelings for another patient with the same disease. The film earned him the People's Choice Award for Drama Movie Star of the Year.

He later played Walt in Moonshot, released in 2022, and the Creature in Lisa Frankenstein, released in 2024. His other film credits include I Wish You All the Best and The Rivals of Amziah King.

Sprouse produced and starred as Sam Walker in the fiction podcast Borrasca. The eight-episode first season was released in 2020, followed by a seven-episode second season in 2022. He also served as an executive producer on The Suite Life Movie.

Sprouse attended New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study and graduated alongside Dylan in May 2015. He focused on the humanities and archaeology, with particular interest in geographic information systems and satellite imaging. During his studies, he participated in archaeological excavations and laboratory work, including summer digs in Europe and Asia.

He launched a photography website in 2011 and has photographed fashion assignments for publications including Teen Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, The Sunday Times Style and W Magazine. His subjects have included Kendall Jenner, Sophie Turner and Sam Smith.
