David Guetta

David Guetta was born and raised in Paris. His father, Pierre Guetta, was a sociologist from a Moroccan Jewish family from Tetouan, and his mother, Monique, was of Belgian descent. He has two maternal half-siblings, Dominique and Joelle Vidal, as well as two paternal half-siblings: journalist Bernard Guetta and actress Nathalie Guetta. While beginning his music career in Parisian nightclubs, he studied economics and social policy at Paris Nanterre University.

In 1992, Guetta married nightclub manager Cathy Lobe. The couple had two children, a son named Tim-Elvis born in February 2004 and a daughter named Angie born in September 2007. Cathy also collaborated closely on Guetta's brand promotion and event organization throughout their marriage. After 22 years together, the couple divorced in Paris in March 2014.

Guetta has been in a relationship with model Jessica Ledon since 2015. The couple announced the birth of their first son together in March 2024, and Guetta welcomed his fourth child in February 2026.

Guetta started DJing at the Broad Club in Paris during the mid-1980s. Initially playing popular songs, he discovered house music in 1987 upon hearing Farley "Jackmaster" Funk on French radio. He began hosting his own club events the following year and released a hip-hop collaboration with French rapper Sidney Duteil titled "Nation Rap" in 1990.

Throughout the 1990s, Guetta held residences and performed at prominent venues across Paris, including Le Centrale, the Rex, Le Boy, and Folies Pigalle. He released his house single "Up & Away" with vocalist Robert Owens in 1994, the same year he assumed the management of Le Palace nightclub. Alongside organising events such as the "Scream" nights at Les Bains-Douches, he launched parties in Ibiza starting in 1996.

In 2001, Guetta co-founded Gum Productions with French producer Joachim Garraud. That year, he released "Just a Little More Love" featuring American singer Chris Willis, whom Guetta met while Willis was on holiday in France. The track preceded Guetta's 2002 debut studio album of the same name on Virgin Records, which went on to sell over 300,000 copies. Guetta followed this with his 2004 album Guetta Blaster and initiated his long-running Fuck Me I'm Famous compilation series named after his Ibiza club parties.

Guetta's third studio album, Pop Life, arrived in 2007, propelled by the single "Love Is Gone", which reached number one on the American dance charts and entered the Billboard Hot 100. In July 2008, Guetta and Cathy organized the "UNIGHTED" event at the Stade de France, where he performed before 40,000 attendees alongside Tiesto, Carl Cox, Joachim Garraud, and Martin Solveig.

Guetta achieved worldwide mainstream stardom in 2009 with his fourth album, One Love. The lead single, "When Love Takes Over" featuring Kelly Rowland, topped charts across the globe and won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. Subsequent singles included "Sexy Bitch" featuring Akon, "Memories" featuring Kid Cudi, and "Gettin' Over You" featuring Chris Willis, Fergie, and LMFAO. The album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album.

During this era, Guetta also established himself as a high-profile pop producer. In 2009, he produced "I Gotta Feeling" for The Black Eyed Peas, which became one of the best-selling digital singles in history and earned Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. He went on to produce singles for Kelis, Flo Rida, and Kelly Rowland.

In August 2011, Guetta released his fifth studio album, Nothing but the Beat, issued as a double album containing one electronic disc and one vocal disc. The project featured an array of guest artists and produced hit singles including "Where Them Girls At" featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, "Without You" featuring Usher, and the global hit "Titanium" featuring Sia. The re-release Nothing but the Beat 2.0 followed in 2012, featuring "She Wolf (Falling to Pieces)" and "Play Hard".

In 2012, Guetta launched the electronic-focused imprint Jack Back Records to release club-oriented records, initiating the label with "Metropolis", a collaboration with Nicky Romero. He also toured extensively, contributed production work to Rihanna's Unapologetic album, and worked on tracks for Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.

Guetta's sixth studio album, Listen, was released in November 2014 through Big Beat Records and Atlantic Records. The album featured the singles "Lovers on the Sun" and "Dangerous" with Sam Martin, as well as "Hey Mama" featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha, and Afrojack. In December 2015, UEFA selected Guetta as the music ambassador for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, for which he created the official anthem "This One's for You" featuring Zara Larsson.

In September 2018, Guetta released his seventh studio album, 7, which featured pop collaborations including "2U" with Justin Bieber, "Flames" with Sia, and "Say My Name" with Bebe Rexha and J Balvin, alongside a companion collection of underground house tracks released under his alias Jack Back.

In 2019, Guetta teamed up with Danish producer Morten to develop "future rave", a new electronic music subgenre combining elements of techno and progressive house. The pair released their collaborative EP New Rave in July 2020, followed by joint tours and an Ibiza club residency at Hi Ibiza. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Guetta hosted the virtual charity concert series United at Home, raising funds for global health and relief initiatives from locations including Miami, New York's Rockefeller Center, and the Musee du Louvre in Paris.

In June 2021, Warner Music acquired Guetta's recorded music catalogue from the preceding two decades in a deal valued between $100 million and $150 million. Guetta continued to achieve major chart success in subsequent years, notably with the 2022 hit single "I'm Good (Blue)" featuring Bebe Rexha.
