Kelly Rowland

Rowland became engaged to manager Tim Weatherspoon in late 2013, announcing the news during an appearance on The Queen Latifah Show. The couple had met and become friends in the early 2000s after being introduced by Rowland's bandmate Michelle Williams, later beginning a romantic relationship around 2009. They married in Costa Rica on May 9, 2014.

The couple has two sons: Titan Jewell, born in November 2014, and Noah Jon, born in January 2021. Both boys made an appearance alongside Rowland in the music video for her 2021 single "Black Magic". In 2020, Rowland revealed that she had reconciled with her biological father, Christopher Lovett, after decades of estrangement following her childhood relocation to Texas.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Rowland relocated to Houston, Texas, with her mother at age seven. There, she met Beyoncé Knowles and joined the youth group Girl's Tyme, which gained national exposure on the talent show Star Search. Managed by Mathew Knowles, the group evolved into a quartet signed to Columbia Records under the name Destiny's Child, releasing their self-titled debut studio album in 1998.

The group reached commercial dominance with their 1999 multi-platinum release The Writing's on the Wall, featuring international number-one hits such as "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name". Despite lineup changes that saw LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson depart and Michelle Williams join, the group sustained enormous success with the 2001 release Survivor, which included "Bootylicious" and "Independent Women Part I". After completing their 2004 studio album Destiny Fulfilled and a final worldwide tour, the group formally disbanded in 2006, having earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Rowland launched her solo career in 2002 while Destiny's Child was on hiatus, collaborating with rapper Nelly on the worldwide hit "Dilemma", which earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Her debut solo album, Simply Deep (2002), blended pop-rock and R&B elements and topped the UK Albums Chart, producing further successful singles such as "Stole" and "Can't Nobody".

Her second solo album, Ms. Kelly, was released in 2007 and produced hits like "Like This" with Eve and the club single "Work". In 2009, Rowland partnered with French producer David Guetta on the crossover dance hit "When Love Takes Over", which topped European charts and steered the dance-pop direction of her third album, Here I Am (2011). That album featured the double-platinum Lil Wayne collaboration "Motivation", which topped the US R&B charts for seven weeks. Rowland followed up with Talk a Good Game in 2013 and later released independent projects through her label KTR Records, including the 2021 EP K.

Beyond music, Rowland transitioned into acting with early guest appearances in sitcoms such as The Hughleys and Girlfriends. In 2003, she made her feature film debut as Kia Waterson in the slasher crossover Freddy vs. Jason, followed by a starring role in the 2005 romantic comedy The Seat Filler. Later screen projects included the 2012 comedy Think Like a Man, Lifetime holiday films in the Merry Liddle Christmas franchise, and Tyler Perry's 2024 legal thriller Mea Culpa.

Rowland also built a prominent career as an unscripted television personality and mentor. She served as a judge on series eight of The X Factor UK in 2011, during which she was instrumental in putting together the girl group Little Mix, and later joined The X Factor USA for its third season in 2013. She spent multiple seasons as a coach on The Voice Australia, securing wins with Sam Perry in 2018 and Chris Sebastian in 2020, and developed new talent on her 2016 BET docuseries Chasing Destiny.
