LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes married dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002, and their divorce was finalized in 2010. She married actor Eddie Cibrian on April 22, 2011. Cibrian's sons, Mason Edward Cibrian and Jake Austin Cibrian, were included in the wedding ceremony, and Rimes has described her relationship with their mother, Brandi Glanville, as having become amicable.

Rimes is the only child of Wilbur Rimes and Belinda Butler. Wilbur managed her early career and produced some of her records. Rimes and her mother filed a lawsuit against Wilbur and former manager Lyle Walker in 2000 over the handling of her income, and the case was settled in 2002. Rimes later reconciled with her father.

She has spoken publicly about psoriasis, anxiety, stress, depression and temporomandibular joint dysfunction. In 2008, she participated in a public-service campaign about psoriasis, and in 2020 she used a magazine photo shoot to raise awareness of the condition.

Rimes was raised in Garland, Texas, after her family moved there from Mississippi when she was six. She began performing in musical theater and local talent competitions, appeared on Star Search, and made a stage debut in a Dallas production of A Christmas Carol. She also sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Dallas Cowboys football games.

At age 11, she recorded the independent album All That, which included her first version of "Blue." Local record promoter Bill Mack helped bring her to the attention of Curb Records, which signed her in 1996. Her new recording of "Blue" reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, while the album Blue reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart.

The success of Blue established Rimes as a major country artist and drew comparisons with Patsy Cline. At the 1997 Grammy Awards, Rimes won Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, becoming the youngest winner of both categories. The Country Music Association also gave her its Horizon Award in 1997, making her the youngest winner of a CMA award at that time.

Rimes broadened her sound with You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs in 1997. The album topped the Billboard 200 and was certified quadruple Platinum, while "How Do I Live" reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on that chart for 69 weeks. Billboard later ranked the song as the most successful single of the 1990s.

Her subsequent albums included Sittin' on Top of the World in 1998 and the self-titled LeAnn Rimes in 1999. The latter consisted largely of country standards, including songs associated with Patsy Cline. Rimes also collaborated with Elton John on "Written in the Stars" for the stage musical Aida.

Rimes moved further toward pop through the soundtrack for Coyote Ugly. She sang for Piper Perabo's character in the film and recorded "Can't Fight the Moonlight," which became a major international hit. The song topped the UK singles chart and spent six weeks at number one in Australia.

After the pop-oriented album Twisted Angel in 2002, Rimes returned to country music with This Woman in 2005. The album reached the top five of both the Billboard Country Albums chart and the Billboard 200, producing three top-five country singles: "Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense," "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" and "Something's Gotta Give."

Her later albums included Family, Lady & Gentlemen and Spitfire. Lady & Gentlemen, released in 2011, featured Rimes's interpretations of songs originally recorded by male country artists and was co-produced with Vince Gill. On Spitfire, her final album for Curb Records, she co-produced with Darrell Brown and co-wrote nine of its 13 songs.

Rimes released the albums Today Is Christmas, Remnants, Chant: The Human & the Holy and God's Work between 2015 and 2022. Remnants produced two number-one Billboard Dance Club Songs, while Chant was built around chants and daily mantras and was accompanied by the wellness podcast Wholly Human.

Rimes made her acting debut in the television film Holiday in Your Heart in 1997. The film was based on a book she co-authored, and she played a country performer whose grandmother becomes hospitalized. She later appeared in Days of Our Lives, Coyote Ugly, Northern Lights, Good Intentions, Reel Love, Drop Dead Diva, Anger Management, Logan Lucky and It's Christmas, Eve.

Rimes met Eddie Cibrian while working with him on Northern Lights, in which he played her character's love interest. She later starred with him in the VH1 reality series LeAnn & Eddie, which aired for one season. In 2005, she hosted the USA Network talent competition Nashville Star.

In 2020, Rimes competed as Sun on the Fox singing competition The Masked Singer. She was revealed as the winner during the season-four finale. She later became a coach on The Voice Australia and The Voice UK, and she was cast as Dixie Bennings in 9-1-1: Nashville.

Rimes is a soprano whose early recordings attracted attention for their vocal maturity. Her style has been associated with country, pop, adult contemporary, pop rock, dance-pop and contemporary Christian music. Although she experimented with several genres, her career remained strongly connected to country music.

Patsy Cline was a major influence on Rimes's phrasing and vocal delivery, and Rimes later recorded several Cline standards. She has also cited Reba McEntire, Wynonna Judd, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston and Alanis Morissette among her influences.

Rimes has participated in philanthropic projects including the 2008 song "Just Stand Up," which benefited Stand Up to Cancer. She has also performed in support of LGBTQ equality and appeared with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles at a 2010 remembrance event.
