Miranda Lambert

Lambert was married to fellow country singer Blake Shelton from May 2011 until their divorce in 2015. The pair also worked together professionally, co-writing “Over You” and collaborating on other recordings.

She has been married to New York City police officer Brendan McLoughlin since January 26, 2019. Lambert is a stepmother to McLoughlin’s son, Landon.

Raised in Lindale, Texas, Lambert began performing while she was still in high school. At 16, she appeared on the Johnnie High Country Music Revue in Arlington, a talent show associated with the early careers of LeAnn Rimes and Lee Ann Womack. She later sang with the Texas Pride Band and fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle in Longview.

After becoming dissatisfied with material offered during an early Nashville recording session, Lambert returned to Texas and learned guitar from her father so she could write her own songs. She independently released her self-titled debut album in 2001. In 2003, she finished third on the television competition Nashville Star, where her performances attracted the attention of Sony Music executive Tracy Gershon and led to a record deal.

Lambert’s first major-label album, Kerosene, arrived in 2005 after the single “Me and Charlie Talking.” She wrote 11 of the album’s 12 songs, and the record debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart before receiving a platinum certification. Its title track earned her a Grammy nomination, while the album established her reputation for fiery, self-determined songwriting.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend followed in 2007 and won the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year. Her 2009 album Revolution broadened her sound with reflective songs such as “The House That Built Me,” which became her first number-one country single and won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Revolution also won Album of the Year at both the ACM Awards and the Country Music Association Awards.

Lambert continued her run of successful albums with Four the Record in 2011 and Platinum in 2014. Platinum won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album and earned Album of the Year honors from both the ACM Awards and the CMA Awards. It included “Automatic,” “Little Red Wagon,” and “Somethin’ Bad,” her duet with Carrie Underwood.

Her sixth album, The Weight of These Wings, was released in 2016 and became her fifth recording to win ACM Album of the Year. Wildcard, released in 2019, included “Bluebird,” which became her first solo number-one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart since “Over You,” and later won the Grammy for Best Country Album. Lambert followed it with Palomino in 2022 and Postcards from Texas in 2024, her first album released through Republic Records with Big Loud handling country promotion.

In 2011, Lambert formed Pistol Annies with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The trio debuted with Hell on Heels, which reached number one on Billboard’s country albums chart, and later released Annie Up, Interstate Gospel, and the Christmas album Hell of a Holiday. Interstate Gospel also reached number one and received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.

Lambert collaborated with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall on The Marfa Tapes, an acoustic album released in 2021. Recorded in Marfa, Texas, with two microphones and acoustic guitars, the project used one-take performances and retained ambient sounds from the desert setting. A documentary about its creation accompanied the album.

Lambert has won Grammy Awards for “The House That Built Me,” Platinum, and Wildcard. She won the ACM Award for Female Vocalist of the Year nine times, including eight consecutive awards through 2017, and became the first woman to win the CMA Album of the Year award twice. In 2022, she won the ACM Entertainer of the Year award for the first time.

In 2009, Lambert and her mother, Bev, founded MuttNation Foundation, an organization supporting animal shelters, adoptions, emergency rescue, and disaster relief. The foundation helped rescue animals after Hurricane Harvey and later partnered with Greater Good Charities to provide pet meals. Lambert has also created the Idyllwind clothing line, the Red 55 Winery brand, and Casa Rosa, a Tex-Mex-themed live-music bar in Nashville that opened in 2021.
