Ella Langley

Elizabeth Camille Langley grew up on a family cattle farm in Hope Hull, Alabama. Her parents, Jason and Heather Langley, filled the house with classic country and rock records. She shared the home with two brothers, Thomas and Stuart, and a younger sister, Katie. As a child, she practiced singing from a barn loft to a herd of roughly 200 cows. She loved traditional tunes. She frequently sat beside her grandfather at the piano to sing "Frog Went a-Courting". After he died, her father restrung his guitar for her fourteenth birthday. Langley taught herself how to play that night using Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds".

Schooling followed an unconventional path. Her parents homeschooled her in Montgomery for six years until seventh grade because she proved a classroom distraction. She then attended Hooper Academy. She competed as a dancer there, winning two state titles. She also worked at a trampoline park to fund her early recording sessions.

Health required attention early on. As a child, Langley underwent multiple surgeries to strengthen the muscles supporting her eyes to prevent drifting, followed by a corrective procedure years later. In December 2019, she had her tonsils removed. Langley lives in Nashville with her two dogs, Crue and Bee. She also serves as a founding board member of the nonprofit Pawsitive Rescue Division.

Langley initially enrolled at Troy University before transferring to Auburn University to study forestry. College did not last. She spent most nights playing four-hour cover sets in local bars, letting her grades slip. In 2019, she left school and moved to Nashville to focus entirely on songwriting.

The grind was slow. She participated in local writers' rounds and built a steady following through independent platforms. When the 2020 pandemic halted live shows, she shifted to livestreaming and social media. A clip of her original song "If You Have To", recorded inside her car, went viral on TikTok in September 2021. That traction led to a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville.

Opportunities multiplied quickly. Langley toured as an opening act for Randy Houser in early 2022. Around that time, singer Elle King heard her song "Out Yonder" and invited Langley into the studio. The two wrote four additional tracks together, placing five Langley co-writes on King's 2023 album Come Get Your Wife. On February 17, 2023, Langley made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry. The next week, she signed a joint recording deal with Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records. Her debut extended play, Excuse the Mess, arrived in May 2023.

Langley released her debut studio album, Hungover, in August 2024. The project featured the track "You Look Like You Love Me", a duet with Riley Green. The song began as a playful conversation with songwriter Aaron Raitiere. Langley had to push hard to keep the spoken-word delivery on the final recording against label hesitation. Her instinct worked. The track went viral, became a Country Airplay number one, and earned Platinum certification.

The awards followed. The collaboration won Musical Event of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards. At the 2025 ACM Awards, Langley secured five trophies, including New Female Artist of the Year. She toured heavily to support the record, launching the Hungover Tour before heading out with Green and joining Morgan Wallen as a stadium guest. A deluxe version titled Still Hungover produced another country radio chart-topper with "Weren't for the Wind".

Langley took time to write her second studio project instead of rushing a quick follow-up. In late 2025, she released the single "Choosin' Texas", a track co-written and co-produced with Miranda Lambert. The song became a massive crossover hit. In February 2026, it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making Langley the first female artist to simultaneously lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. It went on to log 19 non-consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100.

Her second full-length album, Dandelion, dropped on April 10, 2026. The 18-track record debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. When the single "Be Her" climbed to number two on the Hot 100 behind "Choosin' Texas", Langley became the first female primary country artist to occupy the top two positions on the chart at the same time. She supported the release with the Dandelion Tour, featuring an all-female roster of opening acts.
