Karrueche Tran is an American actress and model known for playing Virginia Loc on TNT's Claws. She also gained recognition as Vivian Johnson on The Bay, a role that earned her the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Daytime Fiction Program.

Personal life

Tran was raised in Los Angeles by her Vietnamese mother and Jamaican godmother. Her father is Black American, and she identifies as biracial. She has a younger maternal half-brother, Raymond Adamson, and is a Christian.

Tran was in a relationship with R&B singer Chris Brown from 2011 to 2015, with a brief separation when Brown reconciled with Rihanna. In 2017, a judge granted Tran a five-year restraining order against Brown after she testified about threats and alleged physical abuse during their relationship. She later dated former NFL player Victor Cruz from 2017 to 2021 and began dating former NFL player Deion Sanders in early 2025.

Breakthrough with *The Bay*

Tran first became widely recognized as Vivian Johnson in the web series The Bay. She starred in the series from 2013 to 2016 and returned for its sixth season in 2020. She also received producer credits on the program.

Her work on The Bay brought three Daytime Emmy Awards. The series won Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series in 2016 and 2017, with Tran sharing the production credits, and she won Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Daytime Fiction Program in 2021. Tran moved from web productions into film and television roles, appearing in 3-Headed Shark Attack, PrXde, A Weekend with the Family, The Nice Guys and Only for One Night. In Only for One Night, she played Chloe, a married woman whose life is disrupted by betrayal. She later appeared in The Honor List, Never Heard, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Embattled, House Party and Divinity.

In television, Tran played Virginia Loc on TNT's Claws from 2017 to 2022. She also had a recurring role as Genevieve on FOX's Deputy, appeared on TBS's The Last O.G. alongside Tracy Morgan, played Eden Lazlo on Games People Play and portrayed Ivy in Bel-Air. She hosted the Fuse TV sustainable-fashion competition show Upcycle Nation and became a co-star of MTV's Ridiculousness.

Modeling, fashion and hosting

Before acting, Tran worked at Nordstrom in Canoga Park from 2009 to 2012 and later worked as a freelance celebrity stylist. She modeled for local brands and became the face of Lady Crooks, the women's division of Crooks and Castles, for its Summer 2013 collection. In 2015, she signed with Wilhelmina Models LA and appeared in a Spring/Summer lookbook for Le Coq Sportif.

Her fashion work included covers and features for Rolling Out, Flaunt, The Hundreds, Cliche, Bleu and Annex magazines. She also hosted the BET Awards red carpet, co-hosted 106 & Park, and joined E! News as a Golden Globes red-carpet co-host in 2017. In 2016, she collaborated with ColourPop Cosmetics on the limited-edition KaePop makeup line.
