Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig was married to actor Hayes Hargrove from 2005 to 2009. She became engaged to actor Avi Rothman in 2019 after three years of dating, and they married in 2021.

Wiig and Rothman became the parents of twins, a son named Shiloh Rothman and a daughter named Luna Rothman, via surrogacy in January 2020.

Wiig studied art at the University of Arizona and took an acting class that encouraged her to pursue performance. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked several jobs before joining The Groundlings, the improv and sketch-comedy troupe. Her work there led to an audition for Saturday Night Live.

Wiig debuted on Saturday Night Live on November 12, 2005, and became a full cast member the following season. Her recurring characters included the excitable Target clerk, Gilly, Penelope, Aunt Linda and Doonese Maharelle. She also became known for impressions of Nancy Pelosi and Suze Orman. She received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her work on the program and left the cast in 2012.

Wiig made her film debut in Unaccompanied Minors and gained attention for her supporting role in Knocked Up. She subsequently appeared in films including Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Adventureland, Extract, Whip It and MacGruber, in which she starred alongside fellow Saturday Night Live cast member Will Forte.

Her major breakthrough came with Bridesmaids in 2011. Wiig co-wrote the film with fellow Groundlings performer Annie Mumolo and played Annie Walker, a woman whose life becomes increasingly chaotic after she is asked to serve as her best friend's maid of honor. The film earned Wiig Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

After leaving Saturday Night Live, Wiig took on a range of comedic and dramatic roles. Her films included The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Skeleton Twins, Welcome to Me, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, The Martian, Ghostbusters, Downsizing, Mother! and Where'd You Go, Bernadette. She starred opposite Bill Hader in The Skeleton Twins and played Barbara Ann Minerva, also known as Cheetah, in Wonder Woman 1984.

Wiig has also voiced characters in the Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon franchises, as well as The Looney Tunes Show, Big Mouth and Bless the Harts. She reunited with Annie Mumolo as co-writer and co-star of Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar in 2021. In 2024, she produced and starred as Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons in the series Palm Royale.
