Lucas Jade Zumann

Zumann developed an interest in performing arts at an early age and appeared in local theater productions. In 2012, he performed in the ensemble of Oliver! with Music Theatre Works, formerly known as Light Opera Works. He was later discovered by Paskal Rudnicke Casting during a Disney talent-search open call in Chicago.

His screen career began with a cameo as Punk #2 in the Netflix series Sense8 in 2015. The same year, he made his feature-film debut as Milo in the horror film Sinister 2. He subsequently appeared as Lucas Hicks in two episodes of Chicago Fire and as Henry Perry in the independent adventure film Thrill Ride.

Zumann played Jamie Fields in Mike Mills's 2016 drama 20th Century Women, a film that received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He appeared alongside Annette Bening, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, and Elle Fanning.

The role established Zumann as a notable young film actor. His performance was characterized by a sensitive portrayal of a boy coming of age amid the influence of several strong women.

From 2017 to 2019, Zumann played Gilbert Blythe in the Canadian television series Anne with an E. The role was his first series-regular part and became one of his best-known performances.

He continued working in film with roles including Nathan Daldry/A in Every Day opposite Angourie Rice, Jeff Owings in To the Stars, and James Whitman in Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets. He also played Jimmy in No Address and has writing and directing credits connected with the short film ENTROPY: Blood Moon.
