Matt LaFleur

LaFleur is married to BreAnne, whom he met while attending Central Michigan. They have two sons, Luke and Ty.

His younger brother, Mike LaFleur, is also a football coach and has worked as an offensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons. Matt LaFleur was the best man at Robert Saleh's wedding, and the two became close while working together at Central Michigan and with the Houston Texans.

LaFleur began his college football career at Western Michigan, where he played wide receiver in 1998 and 1999. He transferred to Saginaw Valley State, became the Cardinals' starting quarterback, and guided the team to the NCAA Division II playoffs in each of his three seasons from 2000 to 2002. Saginaw Valley State went 29-8 during his time as its quarterback, and he left as the school's leading passer in yards, completions and touchdown passes. He was inducted into the Saginaw Valley State Cardinal Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

LaFleur graduated from Saginaw Valley State in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He briefly continued playing professionally as a quarterback for the Omaha Beef in 2003 and the Billings Outlaws in 2004, both in the National Indoor Football League.

LaFleur began coaching at Saginaw Valley State in 2003 as an offensive assistant. He later worked as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan, coached quarterbacks and wide receivers at Northern Michigan, and became Ashland University's offensive coordinator in 2007. At Ashland, he helped the Eagles reach an NCAA Division II postseason appearance.

LaFleur entered the NFL with the Houston Texans in 2008 as an offensive assistant. He then coached quarterbacks for the Washington Redskins from 2010 to 2013, including rookie Robert Griffin III, before returning to college football as Notre Dame's quarterbacks coach in 2014. At Notre Dame, he coached Everett Golson during a season in which Golson threw for 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns.

As the Atlanta Falcons' quarterbacks coach in 2015 and 2016, LaFleur worked with quarterback Matt Ryan during Ryan's NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year season. The Falcons reached Super Bowl LI, where they lost to the New England Patriots in overtime. LaFleur became offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and the Tennessee Titans in 2018. The Rams went 11-5 and led the NFL in scoring in 2017, while the Titans ranked seventh in rushing offense in 2018.

The Packers hired LaFleur as the franchise's 15th head coach on January 8, 2019. In his first season, Green Bay went 13-3, won the NFC North and reached the NFC Championship Game. The Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks in LaFleur's postseason debut before losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

Green Bay repeated its 13-3 record in 2020, won another NFC North title and secured the NFC's top seed. The Packers led the NFL with 509 points, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a franchise-record 48 touchdown passes. In 2021, LaFleur became the first head coach in NFL history to lead his team to at least 13 wins in each of his first three seasons. Green Bay won a third consecutive division title and reached 13 regular-season victories again.

The Packers went 8-9 in 2022 and missed the playoffs, but returned to the postseason in 2023. As the NFC's seventh seed, Green Bay defeated the Dallas Cowboys 48-32 in the wild-card round, becoming the first seventh seed in NFL history to win a postseason game. The team also reached the playoffs in 2024 and 2025, and LaFleur and the Packers agreed to a multiyear contract extension in January 2026.
