Orlando Bloom

Bloom was married to Australian model Miranda Kerr from 2010 to 2013. They have a son, Flynn, who was born in January 2011. Bloom began dating singer Katy Perry in 2016, and they became engaged in 2019. Their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, was born in August 2020, and Bloom and Perry separated in 2025.

Bloom has dyslexia and was encouraged by his mother, Sonia Bloom, to pursue art and drama. He practises Buddhism, became a full member of SGI-UK in 2004, and has supported environmental initiatives through Global Green.

Bloom made his film debut with a small role in Wilde in 1997. Two days after graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1999, he was cast as Legolas in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He had originally auditioned for Faramir, but Jackson selected him to play the elven archer instead. Bloom reprised the role in The Hobbit trilogy.

His breakthrough was followed by the role of Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. He returned for Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, and later made a cameo as Turner in Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017. Other major film roles included Paris in Troy, Balian de Ibelin in Kingdom of Heaven, Drew Baylor in Elizabethtown and the Duke of Buckingham in The Three Musketeers.

Bloom appeared in films such as Black Hawk Down, Ned Kelly, Haven, New York, I Love You, The Good Doctor, Zulu, Unlocked and S.M.A.R.T. Chase. He also served as a co-producer on Haven and as an executive producer on The Good Doctor.

In 2019, Bloom began starring as detective Rycroft Philostrate in Carnival Row, appearing in the series through 2023. He played Captain Benjamin Keating in the war drama The Outpost, Danny Moore in Gran Turismo, Cash in Red Right Hand and a boxer in The Cut, which he also produced.

Bloom made his West End debut in David Storey's In Celebration in 2007. He made his Broadway debut as Romeo in a 2013 production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, then returned to London's West End in the 2018 revival of Tracy Letts's Killer Joe.

Bloom was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2009 after working with the organisation since 2007. He visited schools and villages in Nepal in support of sanitation and education programmes, and later visited Ukraine to highlight the effects of conflict on children's education. He received the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award in 2015, an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Kent in 2010, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.
