Jacob Elordi

Jacob Nathaniel Elordi was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and grew up in Australia. He attended St Kevin's College in Melbourne and St Joseph's College, Nudgee, graduating from the latter in 2015. During his childhood, he also lived in Melbourne for four years before returning to Brisbane at 16.

Elordi played rugby union and basketball as a junior, representing Victoria in both sports. He was part of Victoria's under-16 national championship-winning basketball team in 2012. A back injury sustained while playing rugby eventually redirected his attention toward acting.

He began performing in school musicals at 12, appearing in productions of Seussical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and later played Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He was inspired by actors including Marlon Brando, Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger. After studying at an acting school in Melbourne for a year, he moved to the United States in 2017 to pursue film and television work.

Elordi's first experience on a Hollywood film set came as an extra in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). His first acting role was Rooster in the Australian film Swinging Safari (2018). That year he rose to prominence as Noah Flynn, the bad-boy jock and primary love interest in Netflix's The Kissing Booth, co-starring with Joey King and Molly Ringwald. The film became one of Netflix's most-watched titles of 2018, and Elordi reprised the role in The Kissing Booth 2 (2020) and The Kissing Booth 3 (2021).

After moving to Los Angeles, Elordi struggled financially and sometimes slept in his car or on friends' couches. While preparing to return to Australia, he auditioned for Euphoria, a drama created by Sam Levinson. He was cast as Nate Jacobs, a troubled high-school football player and antihero, opposite Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and other members of the ensemble.

The success of Euphoria established Elordi as a major young star, but he expressed concerns about being objectified and about whether audiences would accept him as a serious actor. The role also expanded his opportunities in film, leading to appearances in 2 Hearts, The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee, and Deep Water.

Elordi's film work became more critically focused in 2023. He played Elvis Presley opposite Cailee Spaeny in Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, a biographical drama centered on Priscilla Presley and Elvis's relationship. Elordi initially had reservations about the singing and dancing involved in portraying Elvis, but accepted the role because he wanted to work with Coppola. His performance received praise from critics and from Priscilla Presley.

Later in 2023, Elordi played Felix Catton in Emerald Fennell's psychological drama Saltburn, alongside Barry Keoghan. The role was widely described as a major breakthrough and earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He also appeared in The Sweet East and He Went That Way, the latter marking his first production credit as an executive producer.

Elordi continued taking varied roles in Oh, Canada (2024) and On Swift Horses (2024). He played Dorrigo Evans in the miniseries The Narrow Road to the Deep North and portrayed the Creature in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (2025). His performance in Frankenstein earned his first Academy Award nomination, as well as nominations at the Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards. He later played Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie in Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Elordi became widely identified in the media as a teen heartthrob during the rise of Euphoria. Coverage has frequently focused on his height, conventional leading-man appearance, and transition from teen romance films to more demanding dramatic roles. He has also served as an ambassador for brands including Hugo Boss and TAG Heuer.

His public image has been shaped by the contrast between his early popularity in The Kissing Booth and his later work with directors such as Sofia Coppola, Emerald Fennell, Paul Schrader, and Guillermo del Toro. Hosting Saturday Night Live in 2024 added to his profile outside film and television acting.
