Rebecca Zamolo

Rebecca Zamolo married Matt Yoakum, better known as Matt Slays, on May 17, 2014. The couple has worked together on YouTube projects and has built a family-oriented entertainment brand around their shared content.

Zamolo and Yoakum welcomed their daughter, Zadie Hope, in 2022. Their son, Zander, was born through a surrogate on August 11, 2025.

Zamolo has also spoken publicly about infertility treatment and pregnancy loss. After beginning IVF treatment, she experienced a chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage in 2021. Her fertility treatment was complicated by longstanding health issues and a previous colon surgery.

Zamolo began training as a competitive gymnast at the age of nine. She competed for more than 10 years, reached the elite level, and earned regional and national titles. She also competed in track and field as a Division I athlete at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

After high school, she spent two years as a professional cheerleader for the San Jose Sabercats from 2000 to 2002. That work helped her begin appearing in commercials and on television. At the University of California, Santa Barbara, she worked as a sports broadcaster for the student station Gaucho News and graduated with a degree in Communications and Sport Management.

After moving to Los Angeles, Zamolo studied improv comedy at The Second City and performed with an improv troupe. In 2010, she became a recurring performer on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and later worked on commercials and digital projects for organizations including Funny or Die, Yahoo, and Blip.TV.

Zamolo's personal YouTube channel focuses on challenges, DIY projects, dancing, gymnastics, pranks, mystery adventures, and scripted family entertainment. Her videos commonly use secret rooms, competitions, surprise twists, and elaborate real-life games.

She also operates a YouTube channel with Matt Slays. Their joint content similarly centers on challenge videos, while Zamolo extends the brand through TikTok, Instagram, and other social platforms. She has collaborated with creators including Jordan Matter, Annie LeBlanc, JoJo Siwa, and Not Enough Nelsons.

In 2018, Zamolo launched the escape-room-inspired Game Master Network, formerly known as The Real Game Master. The series is structured as a detective-style alternate reality game in which Zamolo and Matt Slays solve clues, riddles, and puzzles while confronting an antagonist known as the YouTube Hacker.

The franchise expanded beyond YouTube. In October 2020, Zamolo and BoundaryLA released a Game Master Network endless-runner mobile game for iOS and Android. Related projects included a subscription service, a musical called Giant Rewind Musical in Real Life, and a series of character and behind-the-scenes materials.

Zamolo and Matt Slays published two HarperCollins books connected with the franchise, The Game Master: Summer Schooled in 2021 and The Game Master: Mansion Myst in 2022.

Zamolo received nominations at the Streamy Awards for Show of the Year and Best Collaboration in 2019, followed by nominations for Show of the Year and Kids and Family in 2020. She was also nominated for Muser of the Year at the 2018 Shorty Awards and Content Creator of the Year at the 2021 American Influencer Awards.

Her Game Master Network work won the Kids and Family category at the 2022 Streamy Awards. She and Matt Slays signed with Underscore Talent in 2021.

Zamolo was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after experiencing severe abdominal pain and bleeding. Doctors also found signs of precancerous changes in her colon, and she underwent surgery to have her colon removed in 2014.

She later made Inside/Out: My Battle with IBD, a 40-minute documentary about her experience with inflammatory bowel disease. She has described anxiety as one of the hardest parts of living with the condition.
