Shamin Abas

Shamin Abas began dating Matt Lauer in 2019 after knowing him for nearly two decades. They met through work and remained friends before their relationship became romantic. The couple has generally maintained a low public profile, although they have been photographed together in New Zealand, New York City, and at Don Lemon's wedding.

Before her relationship with Lauer, Abas was married twice. Her first husband was a Detroit-based dentist, and she later married East Hampton nightclub and restaurant owner Frank Cilione on November 8, 2003. Their marriage ended in divorce in November 2007.

Abas founded her eponymous communications firm in 2005. The company, known as Shamin Abas Associates and also described as Shamin Abas Ultra-Luxury Brand Marketing and Business Development, specializes in public relations, brand marketing, business development, and experiential work for luxury companies.

The firm's client sectors include premium automotive, marine, aviation, design, timepieces, high jewelry, technology, and real estate. Its work has included brands such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, NetJets, Bugatti, Dom Pérignon, and Jet Aviation.

Abas serves as the firm's founder and president and is part of The Luxury Council at New York University's Stern School of Business.

Abas entered the media industry as a Chrysler spokesmodel. Before that, she auditioned for West Side Story on London's West End but did not obtain a role.

She subsequently performed on a cruise ship in the West Indies, where she met her first husband. After moving to New York City, she also worked as a voiceover artist before building her career in public relations and luxury marketing.
