Vince Vaughn

Vaughn has been married to Canadian realtor Kyla Weber since 2010. They have two children, Locklyn Kyla Vaughn and Vernon Lindsay Vaughn, born in 2010 and 2013.

Vaughn dated his The Break-Up co-star Jennifer Aniston from 2005 to 2006. He describes himself as a libertarian and supported Ron Paul in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections and Rand Paul in 2016.

Vaughn began acting professionally after appearing in a Chevrolet commercial in 1988 and moving to Hollywood. He made early television appearances in China Beach, 21 Jump Street, Doogie Howser, M.D., and CBS Schoolbreak Specials before making his first credited film appearance in Rudy in 1993.

While working on Rudy, Vaughn met Jon Favreau. Favreau later wrote the role of Trent Walker for Vaughn in Swingers (1996), the independent comedy that became his career breakthrough. Steven Spielberg saw Vaughn in the film and cast him as Nick Van Owen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), giving him a major mainstream film role.

Vaughn established himself as a leading comedy actor with Old School (2003), in which he starred alongside Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson. He followed it with Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004), Starsky & Hutch (2004), Wedding Crashers (2005), The Break-Up (2006), Fred Claus (2007), Four Christmases (2008), and Couples Retreat (2009).

His frequent appearances with Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, and Owen Wilson led to his association with the informal “Frat Pack” group of comedy performers. Vaughn and Owen Wilson reunited for The Internship (2013), which Vaughn co-wrote and produced. Vaughn also worked with Jon Favreau on Made (2001), a film in which he was both an actor and producer.

In 2005, Vaughn launched Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, a tour featuring improv, sketch comedy, stand-up, and performances by Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst, and Sebastian Maniscalco. The tour became the subject of the documentary Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland.

Vaughn continued to take dramatic and unusual roles alongside his comedy work. His credits include Norman Bates in Gus Van Sant’s Psycho (1998), FBI agent Peter Novak in The Cell (2000), and Wayne Westerberg in Sean Penn’s Into the Wild (2007). He played Sergeant Howell in Hacksaw Ridge (2016), Bradley Thomas in Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017), Anthony Lurasetti in Dragged Across Concrete (2018), and the title killer in the body-switching horror comedy Freaky (2020).

On television, Vaughn played Frank Semyon in the second season of HBO’s True Detective in 2015. He later voiced Chet Stevenson in F Is for Family, appeared as Freddy Funkhouser in Curb Your Enthusiasm, and played detective-turned-restaurant-inspector Andrew Yancy in the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey.

Vaughn received the Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Actor in a Horror Movie for Freaky. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Motion Pictures category in 2024.

Vaughn expanded into producing and writing through Wild West Picture Show Productions. He produced or executive produced projects including The Break-Up, Couples Retreat, The Dilemma, Term Life, F Is for Family, and A Christmas Story Christmas. He also co-wrote The Break-Up, Couples Retreat, The Internship, and Christmas with the Campbells.

In 2022, Vaughn, Greg Olsen, and Ryan Kalil launched Audiorama, a podcast network and production company. Its first podcast, Youth, Inc., focuses on youth sports. Vaughn is also a majority shareholder of the Coachella Valley Scorpions, a National Pickleball League team for players aged 50 and over.

Vaughn began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the Gracie Academy in 2016 and received a blue belt in 2018. In 2019, he received the U.S. Army’s Meritorious Public Service Medal for contributions to service members’ morale, including visits to military bases and special screenings of his films.
