Joaquim Valente

Joaquim Valente and Gisele Bündchen have been married since December 3, 2025, when they held a private ceremony in Surfside, Florida. Their relationship began as a friendship before they started dating in June 2023, after Bündchen's divorce from Tom Brady was finalized.

The couple welcomed a baby boy in February 2025. His middle name is River, while his first name has not been publicly shared. The child joined Bündchen's two older children, Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake.

Valente began studying Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the age of two. He trained under Grandmaster Hélio Gracie in Rio de Janeiro and received his black belt and Professors' Diploma from Gracie in 2007. Only 27 people received the diploma from Gracie over a 75-year period.

In addition to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Valente has trained in boxing and jūdō. His instruction emphasizes self-defense and techniques designed for students with different levels of experience.

Valente co-founded the Valente Brothers academy in Miami with his brothers, Pedro Valente and Gui Valente. He teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu there alongside them, continuing a family practice that began with their father and developed through training at the Gracie Academy in Rio de Janeiro.

Bündchen's son began taking classes at the academy in 2021, and she later enrolled herself after speaking with Valente. She has trained with him and credited the practice with making her feel stronger and more empowered.

Valente moved from Brazil to Miami in 2007 to study criminology at Barry University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in the field in 2011.

His education in criminology accompanied his continued martial arts training and later work as an instructor at the family academy.
