Anna Kloots

Kloots co-authored Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero with Amanda Kloots. Published in 2021, the memoir documents Nick Cordero's illness and the family's experience of love and loss. The book became a New York Times bestseller, and Amanda joined Anna at several Los Angeles book-tour events.

Kloots published her solo memoir, My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act, in 2023. The book explores the end of her marriage, the process of rebuilding her life, travel, and the rediscovery of her identity. She has said that sharing difficult experiences can help readers recognize that they are not alone.

Kloots was married to magician Joshua Jay from 2015 to 2019. She worked as his magician's assistant and traveled internationally during the marriage, while later describing a sense of losing sight of her own desires within the relationship.

The end of the marriage became the central turning point in My Own Magic. Kloots framed the experience as an opportunity to begin again and moved to Paris in 2020. Her advice from this period emphasizes developing self-love and giving personal growth the same attention as a romantic relationship.

French language and Parisian culture became part of her life when she studied them as a young student in Ohio. She later spent a semester abroad in France. Her travels have included a two-week road trip in Romania and a stay in a Finnish igloo while searching for the Northern Lights, experiences that have informed her essays and creative work.
