Candice King

King was married to musician Joe King of The Fray from 2014 to 2022. They met at a Super Bowl event, after being introduced by King's The Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev, became engaged in May 2013, and married in New Orleans on October 18, 2014. Through the marriage, Candice became stepmother to Joe King's two daughters from a previous marriage.

The couple had two daughters together, Florence May, born in January 2016, and Josephine, born in December 2020. King began dating actor Steven Krueger in 2023, and they have been married since 2026. They welcomed a son in May 2026, her third child.

King released her debut album, It's Always the Innocent Ones, independently in the United States in December 2006. She co-wrote most of the album's tracks, which included original songs as well as covers of "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday and "The Breakup Song" by American Hi-Fi. The album was re-released in Japan in 2008.

She later toured as a backing singer on Miley Cyrus's Best of Both Worlds Tour. King appeared as herself in the 2008 3D concert film Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. She also performed a cover of The Bangles' "Eternal Flame" on The Vampire Diaries in 2011.

King was cast as Caroline Forbes in The CW supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries in 2009. Caroline became one of the show's main characters, and King appeared in 171 episodes across its 2009-2017 run. Her performance earned her two Teen Choice Awards, along with additional nominations.

She reprised Caroline in the fifth season of The Originals in 2018 and returned for Legacies. Her performance in the franchise remains the role most closely associated with her acting career.

Before joining The Vampire Diaries, King made guest appearances in How I Met Your Mother, Supernatural, and Drop Dead Diva. Her early film credits included Juno, On the Doll, and the horror film Deadgirl, in which she played JoAnn. She also had a small role in The Hannah Montana Movie.

King played Chloe Cunningham in the second season of the web series Dating Rules from My Future Self, where she also worked as a producer. Her later credits include Solana Kitan in The Orville, Kimberly in After We Collided, Belle in the television film Christmas in Tune, and Melanie McGuire in Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story. She played Bess Sinclair in the television adaptation of We Were Liars.

King has supported the It Gets Better Project, an organization focused on preventing suicide among LGBT youth. She participated in that advocacy alongside her The Vampire Diaries co-stars Michael Trevino and Ian Somerhalder.

Her professional association with Miley Cyrus began through the Best of Both Worlds Tour and continued with King's appearance in the related concert film. King also appeared in the music video for The Fray's "Love Don't Die".
