Madison Bailey

Bailey came out as pansexual in 2017 and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder around the age of 18. She has discussed mental health and LGBTQ+ representation publicly.

From 2020 to 2025, Bailey was in a relationship with retired basketball player Mariah Linney. IMDb lists her as having no children.

Bailey was raised in Kernersville, North Carolina, by adoptive parents. She is the youngest of seven siblings, with three brothers and three sisters. Five of her siblings were also adopted through foster care.

She is of Mauritian and Italian descent and has spoken about growing up in a predominantly white household and community. Her mother died in 2018, and Bailey and two of her sisters have tattoos in her memory. She attended East Forsyth High School in Kernersville.

Bailey originally wanted to become a singer, but switched to acting and modeling at age 15 after experiencing stage fright while singing in front of people. She began her professional acting career in 2015 with appearances in Constantine and Swamp Murders.

Her early television work included roles in Mr. Mercedes and Murder Chose Me. In 2018, she played Wendy Hernandez, a teenage metahuman who can control and manipulate air, in the CW science-fiction series Black Lightning. She appeared in six episodes across the 2018-2019 run.

Bailey's best-known role is Kiara "Kie" Carrera in Outer Banks, the Netflix mystery drama that began in 2020. She is part of the show's main cast, which includes Chase Stokes, and appears in 50 episodes listed through the series' 2020-2026 run.

Her other screen credits include Carla in Creepshow, Jules in Council of Dads, Kelley in American Horror Stories, and Lucy Field in Time Cut. She also played Sophia in The Painter and Izzy in Maintenance Required.

Bailey's film roles include Impractical Jokers: The Movie, Supercool, Discarded Things, The Painter, Time Cut, and Maintenance Required. In Time Cut, she was also credited as a co-producer.
