Catherine Missal

Missal began acting in community theater at the age of five and earned her first professional stage credit two years later. Her early stage work developed into Broadway appearances in A Tale of Two Cities, 101 Dalmatians, and Mary Poppins.

Her sister Kelley Missal is also an actress. The sisters both appeared in Movement and Location, in which Catherine played Rachel, a character designed to resemble Kelley’s character, creating a distinctive connection between the film’s story and their real-life relationship. Catherine and Kelley also sang together on the television movie The Next Big Thing: NY.

Missal made her television debut with appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, playing Heather and Emily Culphers in separate episodes. She later appeared in Vijay and I, Movement and Location, Natural Selection, Doubt, and The Blacklist, where she played Tara Rayburn.

Her breakout film role came in 2015, when she portrayed Adena in the comedy Vacation. Other screen credits include Tiffany in Natural Selection and a CIA Duty Officer in A House of Dynamite. She also performed for President Barack Obama and the First Lady during a Fourth of July celebration at Ford’s Theatre.

Missal plays Bree in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies, a role she began in 2022. Bree is portrayed as loyal, resilient, and introspective, with an outsider perspective that remains closely connected to the people around her.

The role brought Missal wider recognition and allowed her to combine acting with songwriting. Her song “Next to You” was featured in Tell Me Lies, adding a musical element connected to her work on the series. Missal has also described the cast’s quick development of a strong bond as an important part of making the characters’ relationships believable on screen.

Missal has pursued songwriting alongside her acting career and has shared music through YouTube and Spotify. She writes and edits songs in her downtime and has incorporated her music into acting projects.

She also has a strong interest in animals and cares for two cats named Chicken and Bunny. Her family and friends remain important parts of her efforts to stay grounded while working in film, television, and music.
