Dave Franco

Dave Franco has been married to actress Alison Brie since 2017. They became engaged in 2015 and married in a private ceremony.

Franco and Brie have also worked together professionally. Brie starred in Franco's directorial debut, The Rental, and the couple later appeared together in Together.

Franco grew up in California with his older brothers James Franco and Tom Franco, both of whom also became involved in the arts. His mother, Betsy Franco, is an author, poet, and editor, while his father, Douglas Eugene Franco, ran a business and a nonprofit agency.

He attended the University of Southern California and initially imagined becoming a high school creative-writing teacher. During his sophomore year, James Franco's manager guided him toward a theater class, which led him to develop an interest in acting. Franco first became interested in filmmaking at 14 while working at a video rental store, where he was paid with free movie rentals because he was below the legal working age.

Franco made his television debut in an episode of 7th Heaven in 2006. He followed it with appearances in Do Not Disturb, Greek, and Privileged, where he played Zachary in a recurring role.

His first major television opportunity came in the ninth season of Scrubs. Franco played Cole Aaronson and appeared in all 13 episodes of the season, which was the final season of the series.

His film breakthrough came in 2012, when he played Eric Molson in 21 Jump Street. He went on to appear in Warm Bodies and Now You See Me in 2013, followed by Neighbors in 2014. Franco shared the MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo with Zac Efron for Neighbors.

Franco reprised his roles as Pete in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Jack Wilder in Now You See Me 2. Other prominent film roles included Ian in Nerve, Massetto in The Little Hours, Greg Sestero in The Disaster Artist, Seth in 6 Balloons and Day Shift, and Levy in If Beale Street Could Talk.

In The Disaster Artist, Franco worked with his brother James Franco, who directed the film. Dave Franco played Greg Sestero, the actor who became associated with Tommy Wiseau and The Room. The brothers also collaborated on comedy videos, including the satirical Acting with James Franco series.

Franco made his directorial debut with the 2020 horror thriller The Rental. He co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Swanberg and also served as a producer. Alison Brie starred in the film alongside Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White, and Sheila Vand.

He later directed, wrote, and executive produced Somebody I Used to Know, released in 2023. His producing credits also include Zola, Pam & Tommy, Together, and Regretting You.
