Alison Brie is an American actress known for playing Trudy Campbell in Mad Men and Annie Edison in Community. She is also recognized for voicing Diane Nguyen in BoJack Horseman, starring as Ruth Wilder in GLOW, and writing and producing films including Horse Girl and Somebody I Used to Know.
Personal life
Alison Brie met actor Dave Franco at a Mardi Gras party in New Orleans in 2011, and they began dating in 2012. They married on March 13, 2017. Franco's brothers James Franco and Tom Franco are Brie's brothers-in-law.
Brie said in a 2017 interview that she did not want to have children. IMDb lists her as having no children. In a BuzzFeed video released in 2023, she identified herself as bisexual.
Early acting and training
Brie began performing at a young age in community theater at the Jewish Community Center in Los Feliz. Her first role was Toto in The Wizard of Oz. She later performed with the Blank Theater Company's Young Playwrights Festival and at the Odyssey, Write-Act, and Rubicon theaters, winning an Indy Award for playing Ophelia in Hamlet.
After graduating from South Pasadena High School in 2001, Brie studied theater at the California Institute of the Arts, earning a bachelor's degree in 2005. She was an original cast member in the world premiere of The Peach Blossom Fan, the inaugural theater production at Disney's REDCAT Theater. She also studied for a year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Before establishing herself as an actress, she worked as a clown named Sunny at children's birthday parties.
Mad Men, Community, and GLOW
Brie made her television debut as Nina, a novice hairdresser, in an episode of Hannah Montana in 2006. Her recognition grew after she was cast as Trudy Campbell in AMC's Mad Men, a role she played from 2007 to 2015.
