Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt was married to actor Anna Faris from 2009 to 2018. They met while filming Take Me Home Tonight and have a son, Jack, who was born nine weeks premature in 2012.

Pratt has been married to author Katherine Schwarzenegger since 2019. They have two daughters, Lyla and Eloise, and a son, Ford. Schwarzenegger is the daughter of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver.

Pratt was raised Lutheran and later identified as a non-denominational Christian. He and Schwarzenegger became Global Ambassadors for the Special Olympics in 2020.

Christopher Michael Pratt was born in Virginia, Minnesota, and grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington. His mother worked at a supermarket, while his father held jobs in mining and home remodeling. Pratt has two older siblings, Angie and Daniel "Cully" Pratt.

He graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1997, where he competed in wrestling and shot put and performed in school plays. He briefly attended community college before dropping out and moving to Maui, Hawaii, where he worked various jobs and lived in a van and a tent.

While working as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Maui, Pratt met actor and director Rae Dawn Chong. Chong cast him as Devon in her short horror film Cursed Part 3 in 2000, which became his first film role and encouraged him to pursue acting in Los Angeles.

Pratt's first regular television role was Bright Abbott in the drama series Everwood, which ran from 2002 to 2006. He later played activist Winchester "Ché" Cook during the final season of The O.C. from 2006 to 2007.

In 2009, Pratt joined Parks and Recreation as Andy Dwyer, a bumbling musician and the former boyfriend of Ann Perkins. The role began as a temporary guest appearance, but his performance impressed the producers and Andy became a regular character. Pratt remained with the series through its 2015 finale.

While working in television, he expanded into film with supporting roles in Wanted, Bride Wars, Jennifer's Body, Moneyball, Zero Dark Thirty, The Five-Year Engagement, Delivery Man, and Her. His performances as baseball player Scott Hatteberg in Moneyball and a Navy SEAL in Zero Dark Thirty helped him move beyond the comic roles associated with Andy Dwyer.

Pratt's major film breakthrough came in 2014, when he voiced Emmet Brickowski in The Lego Movie and played Peter Quill, or Star-Lord, in Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a team of space-traveling heroes. Pratt reprised the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

He became a second major franchise lead as Owen Grady in Jurassic World (2015), later returning for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World Dominion. His other leading film roles include Josh Faraday in The Magnificent Seven, Jim Preston in Passengers, Dan Forester in The Tomorrow War, and Keats in The Electric State.

Pratt has also continued voice acting as Barley Lightfoot in Pixar's Onward, Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and Garfield in The Garfield Movie. He founded the production company Indivisible Productions in 2020, and served as an executive producer and star of the action series The Terminal List.

Pratt became known for an affable, comic screen persona before taking on more frequent action and dramatic leading roles. He has used music and substantial physical training or weight changes to prepare for different characters, including Scott Hatteberg in Moneyball and his roles in Zero Dark Thirty, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jurassic World.

His public recognition includes a place on Time magazine's 2015 list of the 100 most influential people in the world and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, unveiled in 2017. His awards include a Saturn Award, an MTV Movie Award, and an MTV Movie & TV Award.

Critics have differed in their assessments of Pratt's range. Some have argued that he often plays variations of a charming, irreverent hero, while others have praised his ability to move between comic characters, action roles, and dramatic performances.
