Matilda Lawler
Matilda Lawler is an American actress known for playing young Kirsten in the miniseries Station Eleven. She is also recognized for her roles as Flora in Flora & Ulysses, Betty in The Santa Clauses, and Frances Montgomery in The Gilded Age.
Station Eleven and early screen roles
Lawler made her screen debut with guest appearances as Brenda and Mathilda Mowbray in the television series Evil. She later appeared in the films The Block Island Sound as Emily, Good Grief as young Nora, and Flora & Ulysses as the title character, Flora.
Her breakout television role came in HBO Max's Station Eleven, in which she played young Kirsten Raymond.
The Santa Clauses and The Gilded Age
Lawler joined the main cast of Disney+'s The Santa Clauses as Betty, Santa's chief of staff. She appeared as a main cast member in the first season and returned in a recurring role for the second season.
She played Frances Montgomery in HBO's period drama The Gilded Age, appearing in a recurring role. Her other screen credits include Ruby in Ezra and Margaret “Marge” Truman in the HBO series It: Welcome to Derry.
Stage work and recognition
Lawler began performing onstage in the first grade in a production of Jack and Annie at Hoboken Children's Theater. She starred as Rory in The Net Will Appear and made her Broadway debut as Honor Carney in The Ferryman.
In 2025, she played Suzy Swanson in the world premiere of The Thing About Jellyfish at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Her performances have brought nominations for a Gotham Award for Station Eleven, a Children's and Family Emmy Award for The Santa Clauses, and a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble of The Gilded Age.
