Katie Holmes is an American actress known for playing Joey Potter on the television series Dawson's Creek. She is also known for roles in films including The Ice Storm, Pieces of April, and Batman Begins, as well as for directing All We Had and Alone Together.

Personal life

Holmes was married to actor Tom Cruise from 2006 to 2012. They have one daughter, Suri, who was born in April 2006. The couple married in a Scientologist ceremony at Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy, in November 2006.

Before her marriage to Cruise, Holmes dated her Dawson's Creek co-star Joshua Jackson, whom she later called her first love. She became engaged to actor Chris Klein in 2003 after three years together, but they ended their relationship in 2005.
