
Lisa Rinna
Lisa Rinna is an American actress known for playing Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives and Taylor McBride on Melrose Place. She later became widely recognized as a cast member of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Personal life
Lisa Rinna married actor Harry Hamlin on March 29, 1997. They have two daughters, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin.
Rinna's mother, Lois Rinna, appeared on The Real Housewives franchise and died of a stroke in 2021. Before Lisa's birth, Lois survived an attack by serial killer David Carpenter.
From modeling to acting
Born in Newport Beach, California, Rinna moved with her family to Medford, Oregon, when she was seven. After graduating from Medford Senior High School in 1981, she moved to San Francisco and worked as a model before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
Her early screen work included commercials, an appearance in John Parr's music video for “Naughty Naughty,” and her feature-film debut in Captive Rage in 1988. She also played Annie, the girlfriend of Jason Bateman's character, in several episodes of The Hogan Family.
Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place
Rinna's breakthrough came in 1992 when she joined Days of Our Lives as Billie Reed. She remained associated with the role through multiple returns, including the 2021 miniseries Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. Her performance earned the 1994 Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Female Newcomer, and she and Robert Kelker-Kelly won Hottest Soap Couple at the 1995 awards.
In 1996, Rinna moved to primetime television as Taylor McBride on Fox's Melrose Place. She played the character through 1998 and later campaigned to reprise the role in the show's 2009 revival, which ran for one season. During her time on Melrose Place, she appeared in Playboy's “Melrose Mom” pictorial while six months pregnant, and returned as a cover model in 2009.
Hosting, Broadway and reality television
Rinna co-hosted Soapnet's talk show Soap Talk with Ty Treadway from 2002 to 2006. Their work received four consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Host. She also hosted Lifetime's home-makeover program Merge and provided red-carpet coverage for the TV Guide Network.
In 2006, Rinna competed on Dancing with the Stars with professional dancer Louis van Amstel. She made her Broadway debut in 2007 as Roxie Hart in Chicago, appearing alongside Harry Hamlin, who played Billy Flynn.
Rinna and Hamlin later appeared together in the reality series Harry Loves Lisa, which premiered on TV Land in 2010. She also competed on The Celebrity Apprentice, including its All-Stars season, and appeared on The Traitors.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Rinna joined the main cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2014 for its fifth season. She remained on the Bravo reality series for eight seasons and appeared in 180 episodes, making it one of the most prominent parts of her television career.
She announced her departure from the series in January 2023. After leaving the show, she continued appearing as a guest co-host on The Talk and took on further television and film roles.
Business ventures and later roles
Rinna launched The Lisa Rinna Collection as a fashion line for QVC and developed the cosmetics collection Rinna Beauty. She and Hamlin also jointly owned the Belle Gray clothing boutique in Sherman Oaks, California, which closed in 2012 after their acting careers made it difficult to manage.
Her later acting credits include Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, The Shrink Next Door, American Horror Stories, So Help Me Todd, Lopez vs. Lopez, and the Lifetime film Mommy Meanest, in which she co-starred with Delilah Belle Hamlin. Her books include Rinnavation: Getting Your Best Life Ever, Starlit, and The Big, Fun, Sexy Sex Book.
