Amanda Seyfried

Seyfried married actor Thomas Sadoski in March 2017 after they began a relationship while co-starring in The Last Word. They have two children, a daughter born in 2017 and a son born in 2020.

Seyfried has acknowledged anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic attacks. She has also discussed stage fright, which contributed to her avoiding theater productions until 2015. She serves on the board of the International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance, an organization that provides medical services to children wounded in war zones, including refugee children affected by the Syrian civil war.

Seyfried began modeling as a child and appeared in print advertising for Limited Too with Leighton Meester. She was also featured on three covers of the Sweet Valley High novel series. During her teenage years, she took vocal lessons, studied classical opera, and trained with a Broadway voice coach.

Her first recurring television role was Lucy Montgomery on As the World Turns, followed by Joni Stafford on All My Children. In 2004, she made her feature-film breakthrough as Karen Smith in Tina Fey's teen comedy Mean Girls, appearing alongside Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Lacey Chabert. The role earned the ensemble an MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Team.

Seyfried had secured a place at Fordham University but deferred her studies after being offered a leading role in Mean Girls. She later played Lilly Kane in Veronica Mars and starred in one segment of Nine Lives, a performance that earned her and the film's other female leads a Best Actress award at the Locarno International Film Festival.

Seyfried's profile grew substantially through the HBO drama series Big Love, in which she played Sarah Henrickson, the daughter of Bill and Barb in a fictional polygamous family. She appeared in 44 episodes between 2006 and 2011 before leaving the series to focus on film work.

In 2008, she made her first leading film appearance as Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia!, co-starring with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth. Seyfried also performed several songs for the film's soundtrack, including "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)." She reprised the role in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in 2018.

Her subsequent film roles included Anita "Needy" Lesnicki in Jennifer's Body, the title character in Chloe, Savannah Curtis in Dear John, Sophie Hall in Letters to Juliet, Valerie in Red Riding Hood, and Sylvia Weis in In Time. She also wrote and recorded "Little House" for the Dear John soundtrack.

Seyfried played Cosette in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. She earned critical acclaim for portraying Linda Lovelace in the biographical film Lovelace and later appeared in films including Pan, Anon, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Scoob!, and First Reformed.

In David Fincher's Mank (2020), Seyfried portrayed actress Marion Davies. The performance brought her nominations for the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Seyfried played Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu limited series The Dropout (2022). Her performance won the Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. She later led The Crowded Room and portrayed Mickey Fitzpatrick in the miniseries Long Bright River.
