Marjorie Taylor Greene

Marjorie Taylor Greene was married to Perry Greene from 1995 until their divorce was finalized in December 2022. They have three children. She has been married to Brian Glenn since July 28, 2026.

Greene was raised and married as a Roman Catholic. She stopped attending Catholic Mass after becoming concerned about sexual-abuse cases in the church and was baptized into North Point Community Church, an evangelical church network in Alpharetta, in 2011.

Greene grew up in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta and worked in her father Robert Taylor's construction company while she was in high school. She studied at the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1996.

In 2002, Greene and Perry Greene acquired Taylor Commercial, the construction company founded by her father. She was listed as its chief financial officer from 2007 to 2011. Greene later became involved in CrossFit, working as a coach and opening CrossFit Passion in Alpharetta with CrossFit athlete Travis Mayer in 2013. She left the business in early 2017.

Greene became politically engaged during the 2016 Republican presidential primaries. She later wrote for American Truth Seekers and Law Enforcement Today, websites associated with conspiracy-oriented and pro-police commentary, and became a top official of the conservative Family America Project.

Greene initially announced a campaign for Georgia's 6th congressional district before moving her campaign to the 14th district after incumbent Tom Graves said he would not seek reelection. She won the Republican primary runoff in August 2020 after campaigning as a strong supporter of Donald Trump and using the slogan "Save America, Stop Socialism!"

Her Democratic opponent, Kevin Van Ausdal, withdrew from the general-election race, leaving Greene effectively unopposed. She won the November 2020 election with 74% of the vote and took office on January 3, 2021. She was reelected in 2022 and 2024, receiving 65.9% and 64.4% of the vote respectively.

Greene's campaign and early congressional career drew national attention because of her past support for QAnon, inflammatory social-media posts, and false claims about events including the September 11 attacks and school shootings.

On her first day in Congress, Greene wore a face mask reading "Trump Won" during the certification of the 2020 presidential election, which Joe Biden had won. She objected to counting Michigan's electoral votes and later filed articles of impeachment against Biden. By September 2022, she had introduced five impeachment resolutions against him.

The House removed Greene from all committee assignments on February 4, 2021, by a vote of 230 to 199 after scrutiny of her earlier comments and endorsements of political violence. She regained committee assignments in January 2023, including positions on the Homeland Security and Oversight and Accountability committees and the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Greene was expelled from the House Freedom Caucus in June 2023 after an argument involving fellow member Lauren Boebert. In May 2024, her effort to remove Republican Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House failed by a vote of 359 to 43.

Greene has opposed abortion, mandatory vaccination, COVID-19 mask requirements, and most forms of gun control. She has supported Christian nationalism, criticized the Black Lives Matter movement, rejected the scientific consensus on human-caused climate change, and opposed U.S. military aid to Ukraine. She also proposed legislation to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and introduced the Protect Children's Innocence Act concerning gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

Greene was a prominent advocate for Donald Trump during and after the 2020 election. She joined Matt Gaetz for the 2021 America First Tour and supported Trump's claims that the election had been stolen, although federal agencies and courts found no evidence of widespread electoral fraud.

In 2025, Greene broke with Trump over issues including the federal government shutdown, health-care costs, U.S. policy toward Israel and Iran, and the release of files connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump withdrew his support for her after the split. Greene announced her resignation from the House on November 21, 2025, with the resignation taking effect on January 5, 2026.

Greene is credited as the director, writer, and producer of MTG Battleground, a 2023 television series. Her other screen credits include the 2024 television special Secret Service Kim Cheatle Hearing on Trump Assassination Attempt and appearances on PBS NewsHour.

Her political persona has also been depicted and discussed in popular culture. Cecily Strong portrayed Greene in sketches on Saturday Night Live, while the character Firecracker in the fourth season of The Boys was based on aspects of Greene's public image.
