Mellow Rackz

Mellow Rackz grew up in Broward, Florida, as the youngest of five children in a Haitian family. She became a mother before turning 17 and has described her son as her motivation for building a future and changing her family's life.

In February 2021, she became engaged to fellow rapper Kodak Black after he proposed with an aircraft message addressed to “Melody.” She accepted the proposal publicly, but later descriptions refer to Kodak Black as her ex-fiancé.

Mellow Rackz was introduced to Mack Maine, president of Young Money, by Cleopatra Bernard, the mother of the late rapper XXXTentacion. She said joining Young Money was an important moment in her career and described the label as a place where she could remain a free-minded artist.

She also worked with other Young Money artists on an upcoming compilation project, describing the studio sessions as competitive and collaborative. Her self-titled YouTube channel features official music videos, and her recorded songs include “What I Want,” “Diamonds,” and “FUN.”

Mellow Rackz has connected her music to surviving violence and hardship. After being shot in the back outside her mother's house, with the bullet passing through her body and exiting through her stomach, she spent time unable to walk or talk. She began humming and creating melodies during her recovery, calling music her medicine.

She sang in a church choir as a child and later developed a songwriting process centered on the beat. She writes every day, draws from her own experiences, and describes her vocal style as versatile because she can change her flow across different genres. Her lyrics address love, struggle, ambition, and self-improvement.
