Oliver Bearman is a British race car driver and Formula 1 driver from Chelmsford, England. He is known for his rapid rise through karting, Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula 2, as well as his 2024 Formula 1 debut for Ferrari. He later joined Haas for his first full-time Formula 1 season and appeared as Ollie Bearman in F1: The Movie.

Career Overview

Bearman began karting at six and started racing competitively at eight. He moved into single-seaters in 2020 at the age of 15, then won the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 championships in 2021. He became the first driver to win both championships in the same year.

He progressed to Formula 3 in 2022, finishing third in the championship, and joined the Ferrari Driver Academy. In 2023, he moved to Formula 2 with Prema Racing, winning four races and finishing sixth in the standings. He also began gaining experience in Formula 1 machinery through testing and free-practice appearances.

2024: Stand in appearances

Bearman made his Formula 1 race debut for Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after Carlos Sainz withdrew with appendicitis. Starting 11th, he finished seventh and scored six points, becoming the youngest driver to score points on his Formula 1 debut. He was also recognized as Driver of the Day and became Ferrari's youngest-ever Formula 1 rookie at 18 years and 305 days.

As a reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas, Bearman also replaced Kevin Magnussen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix while Magnussen served a race ban. Bearman qualified 11th and finished 10th, scoring one point. He later stood in for Magnussen at the São Paulo Grand Prix when Magnussen was unwell, finishing 12th. His points finishes for Ferrari and Haas made him the first Formula 1 driver to score points for two different teams in his first two races.

2025: First full-time year

Haas signed Bearman to a multi-year deal for the 2025 Formula 1 season, giving him his first full-time drive. He joined the team alongside Esteban Ocon, who had previously driven for Alpine. Bearman's 2024 substitute appearances, particularly his points finish in Azerbaijan, helped convince Haas to give him the seat.

His strongest result of the 2025 season came at the Mexican Grand Prix, where he finished fourth after overtaking Max Verstappen. He also finished sixth in Brazil and outscored Ocon during their first season as teammates. Formula 1's career summary records Bearman with 41 points and 13th place in the 2025 championship.
