Hailie Deegan

Deegan grew up in Temecula, California, attending Rancho Christian High School while managing a racing calendar. Racing runs in the family. Her father, Brian Deegan, is an X Games gold medalist and motocross competitor. Her mother is Marissa Deegan. Her younger brother Haiden races professionally in AMA Supercross and motocross, while her youngest brother Hudson has also competed on dirt bikes.

She began dating fellow racer Chase Cabre in June 2020. Cabre later served as her co-driver when she competed in the 2022 Mint 400 off-road race. The couple announced their engagement in October 2023.

Deegan first rode dirt bikes at age seven. For her eighth birthday, she received a Trophy Kart and entered short course off-road competitions. Success came quickly. She won her first Trophy Kart race in the SXS Stadium Series in 2009. By 2013, she claimed the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Junior 2 Karts championship, becoming the first female driver to earn a title in the series.

Deegan secured the LOORRS Modified Kart Regional Championship in 2015 and the National Championship in 2016. That same year, she earned the Lucas Oil Off Road Driver of the Year award. She moved into the Pro Lite division in 2017 before shifting focus toward asphalt, though she returned to dirt for selected events like the Nitro Rallycross side-by-side support class and the Mint 400.

Deegan transitioned to asphalt in 2016 driving legends cars for Rev Racing. She was selected for NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program and joined the NASCAR Next class in 2017 as its youngest and only female member. In 2018, she signed with Bill McAnally Racing to compete full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West driving the No. 19 Toyota.

At the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, she became the first woman to earn a pole at the K&N level. On September 29, 2018, she passed teammate Cole Rouse on the final corner at Meridian Speedway to secure her first win. She finished fifth in the standings and took Rookie of the Year honors.

She added two more victories in 2019. Her second win came on the dirt track in Las Vegas with an overtime pass. In June 2019, she passed teammate Derek Kraus on the final lap at Colorado National Speedway to take her third West victory. She finished third in the 2019 championship standings.

At the end of 2019, Deegan switched from Toyota to Ford, signing with DGR-Crosley for a full ARCA Menards Series campaign in 2020. She opened the year by finishing second at Daytona International Speedway, tying the record for the best ARCA finish by a woman. Another runner-up finish on the dirt at Springfield helped her capture ARCA Rookie of the Year and third in points.

She stepped into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series full-time in 2021 driving the No. 1 Ford for David Gilliland Racing. At World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, she finished seventh, marking the first top-ten finish by a woman in Truck Series history at a non-superspeedway track. Fans voted her the Truck Series Most Popular Driver three consecutive years from 2021 through 2023.

In October 2022, Deegan debuted in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway driving for SS-Green Light Racing. She finished 13th on the lead lap. That was the highest finish by a female driver in an Xfinity debut. She joined AM Racing for the 2024 Xfinity season, posting a best finish of 12th at Talladega before parting ways with the team in July.

Deegan moved to open-wheel racing in October 2024, signing with HMD Motorsports to drive the No. 38 car in the 2025 Indy NXT championship. Her season opened with a 14th-place run on the streets of St. Petersburg. She completed the 14-race season 14th in points, with a best finish of 11th place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

In January 2026, Deegan announced her return to stock cars, rejoining Bill McAnally Racing for a full ARCA Menards Series West schedule and part-time starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.
