Cameron Hanes

Hanes is known for combining non-fiction writing with professional bowhunting and outdoor adventure. His books include Backcountry Bowhunting: A Guide to the Wild Side and Bowhunting Trophy Blacktail.

His work has also included sponsorships from outdoor and athletic brands such as Under Armour. His public profile centers on hunting, physical training, conservation, and life in the outdoors.

Hanes opened his self-titled YouTube channel in October 2009. The channel became known for videos featuring his training, hunting trips, and other athletic activities, attracting more than 550,000 subscribers.

He made a guest appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in June 2016. He later visited Joe Rogan for another podcast recording, with the two described as friends.

In a 2008 account of a black bear hunt on Alaska's Skwentna River, Hanes described bringing his youngest son, Truett, on a spring hunting trip. Hanes had previously taken his son Tanner to Alaska, where Tanner later harvested a bear. On the 2008 trip, Truett harvested his first bear and caught his first king salmon, completing what their hunting partner Roy Roth called the "AK Combo."

Hanes described Roth as his best hunting partner and a true friend, with whom he had shared hunts and difficult experiences over many years. Hanes also wrote about taking his daughter Taryn on a future spring-bear hunt, emphasizing the family role that outdoor trips played in his life.
