Parker McCollum

Parker McCollum married Hallie Ray Light in spring 2022. They have a son together, and in December 2025 they announced that they were expecting their second child.

McCollum and Light celebrated their son's dedication at Light's home church in Oklahoma.

McCollum was raised in Conroe, Texas, near Houston. During his summers, he worked on cattle ranches in Houston and Limestone Counties with his grandfather Bobby Yancey. The nickname he earned while working at a Limestone County ranch later inspired the title of his debut album, The Limestone Kid.

He learned violin in elementary school and played in his school orchestra before taking up guitar at 13. He began writing songs at the same age and learned harmonica at 15. His early musical influences included Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, Porter Wagoner, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, Chris Knight, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and George Strait. He attended The Woodlands College Park High School before moving to Austin and attending college.

While living in Austin, McCollum toured with the Texas band Six Market Blvd. The experience inspired the lyrics of his first single, "Highway," which was released in 2013 and later appeared on his debut EP, A Red Town View. Corby Schaub produced the EP and later produced The Limestone Kid.

McCollum released The Limestone Kid in 2015. He wrote or co-wrote nine of its eleven tracks, while two songs were written by members of his family. The album combined Americana, Texas country, and folk-rock, with Lloyd Maines contributing pedal steel guitar. Its single "Meet You in the Middle" was released to Texas radio, and "High Above the Water" reached the top 50 of the Texas Regional Radio Report.

The album brought McCollum early critical attention and led to a Texas tour with his backing band. He also performed at the RedGorilla Music Fest, the Texas Crawfish and Music Festival, and Larry Joe Taylor's Texas Music Festival. In 2015, he won the T-Birds Songwriter Award.

McCollum released Probably Wrong: Session One in July 2017 and Probably Wrong: Session Two in September of that year. The two sessions were combined into the full ten-track album Probably Wrong, released in November 2017. The project included the singles "I Can't Breathe," "Misunderstood," and "Hell of a Year."

Probably Wrong: Session One became McCollum's first release to appear on the Billboard charts, reaching No. 6 on Heatseekers Albums, No. 14 on Independent Albums, and No. 15 on Country Album Sales. He signed with MCA Nashville in 2019, and his first single with the label was "Pretty Heart." The EP Hollywood Gold followed in 2020.

McCollum released Gold Chain Cowboy, his major-label debut, in 2021. Produced by Jon Randall, the album received positive reviews for its polished sound and its distinction from mainstream country radio. In 2022, McCollum won the Academy of Country Music Award for New Male Artist of the Year and the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for "To Be Loved by You."

His fourth overall studio album, Never Enough, followed in 2023. Its lead single, "Handle on You," was followed by the promotional tracks "Stoned," "I Ain't Going Nowhere," and "Speed." McCollum's 2024 single "Burn It Down" won the ACM Award for Visual Media of the Year and became his fourth consecutive country radio chart-topping hit after "Pretty Heart," "To Be Loved by You," and "Handle on You."

McCollum released "What Kinda Man" in 2024 and announced his self-titled fifth studio album in 2025. Parker McCollum was released on June 27, 2025.

McCollum made his debut at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March 2022, performing for an audience of 73,243. He returned to the event for a third consecutive sold-out show in 2025.

In 2024, he headlined the Burn It Down Tour, playing major venues and appearing at prominent country music festivals. His live performances and radio success contributed to recognition from MusicRow, which named him its 2021 Breakout Artist of the Year, while Apple selected him for its all-genre Up Next Artists class of 2021.

McCollum's music draws from Texas country, Americana, blues, roots rock, soul, and folk-rock. He has cited George Strait as his musical hero and has performed covers of Strait's songs, while Ryan Bingham, Ryan Adams, Townes Van Zandt, and John Mayer have also influenced his sound.

His songwriting often reflects his experiences growing up and working in Texas. He performs vocals, guitar, and harmonica, and is also known for pucker whistling.
