Sasha Grey

Grey was raised in Sacramento after growing up in North Highlands, California. She attended four high schools, graduated a year early at 17, and briefly studied film, dance, and acting at Sacramento City College.

She was in a long-term relationship with photographer Ian Cinnamon, which ended in 2012. Grey has identified herself as an existentialist and atheist, and has described herself as bisexual.

Grey co-founded the industrial music project aTelecine with Pablo St. Francis in 2008. Anthony D' Juan and Ian Cinnamon later joined the project. aTelecine released the aVigillant Carpark EP in 2009 and the album ...And Six Dark Hours Pass in 2010. Grey left the band in 2013.

She also contributed vocals to Current 93's Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain, covered Nico for the X-TG album Desertshore, and worked with Infected Mushroom and Death in Vegas. Her collaborations with Death in Vegas included the album Transmission and the 2018 single Honey.

Grey has regularly performed as a DJ since 2010 and has published mixes on SoundCloud. Her other music-video appearances include The Smashing Pumpkins' “Superchrist,” The Roots' “Birthday Girl,” and Eminem's “Space Bound.”

Grey published the photography book Neü Sex in 2011. Her first novel, The Juliette Society, appeared in 2013 and became the first volume in a trilogy. The subsequent novels, The Janus Chamber and The Mismade Girl, were published in 2016 and 2018.

She voiced Viola DeWynter in Saints Row: The Third and reprised the role in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. She also voiced Ash, the DJ of 89.7 Growl FM, in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

In 2020, Grey began hosting Grey Area on VENN and started streaming video-game playthroughs on Twitch. Her work has also included directing and producing films and music videos.
