William Levy is a Cuban-American actor known for starring in telenovelas such as Cuidado con el ángel and Sortilegio. He has also appeared in films including Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and Addicted, and played the title role in the television series Montecristo.
Personal life
Levy was in a relationship with Mexican-American actress Elizabeth Gutiérrez from 2003 until their separation was announced in 2024. They have two children, a son named Christopher Alexander Levy and a daughter named Kailey Alexandra Levy.
Christopher played baseball and has described the sport as a bond between him and his father. After suffering severe knee injuries in a 2020 golf-cart accident, Christopher underwent surgery and returned to the baseball field. Kailey has expressed an interest in following her father's path as an actress.
From modeling to telenovelas
Levy began his entertainment career as a model with Next Models and appeared on Telemundo's reality programs Isla de la Tentación and Protagonistas de Novela 2. He also performed in the stage production La Nena Tiene Tumbao at the Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan in 2005.
His early Spanish-language television roles included Olvidarte Jamás, Mi Vida Eres Tú and Acorralada. Producer Carla Estrada cast him in Pasión, which became his breakthrough in Mexican telenovelas. He then played Juan Miguel San Román in Cuidado con el ángel opposite Maite Perroni, followed by a leading role alongside Jacqueline Bracamontes in Sortilegio.
Breakthrough roles and Hollywood films
Cuidado con el ángel and Sortilegio established Levy as a leading figure in Spanish-language television. He later starred in Triunfo del amor with Maite Perroni and played Captain Damián Fabré in La Tempestad.
Levy made his film debut in Retazos de Vida in 2008. His subsequent film work included the voice role of Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker in the Spanish version of Planet 51, Quinton Canosa in Addicted, Manny in Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club, Warrior in The Veil, and Christian in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. He also appeared in Term Life, Girls Trip, El fantasma de mi novia and En brazos de un asesino.
Dancing with the Stars and later television
In 2012, Levy competed on the fourteenth season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars with professional partner Cheryl Burke. The pair finished in third place. That year, he also appeared in Single Ladies and later played Mateo Ferrera in the Fox musical drama Star.
Levy returned to telenovelas as Sebastián Vallejo in Café con aroma de mujer in 2021. His later television roles included Alejandro Montecristo in Montecristo and Santiago Zepeda in Vuelve a mí. He also served as an executive producer on Montecristo and Vuelve a mí.
