Xolo Maridueña

Maridueña was born in Los Angeles, California, to Omar G. Ramirez and Carmelita Ramirez-Sánchez. He has four sisters, including Oshun Ramirez, and is of Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent. His birth name, Ramario Xolo Ramirez, combines the names Ramón and Mario, which belonged to his maternal uncles.

He grew up in the El Sereno neighborhood and attended El Sereno Middle School, Cathedral High School, and Pasadena City College. Around the age of 10, he joined the CASA 0101 theater company, where he trained and performed in his first productions. He practices the Ifá tradition.

Maridueña was in a relationship with his Cobra Kai co-star Hannah Kepple, beginning in 2019. The relationship ended in either 2021 or 2022.

Maridueña began acting professionally as a child, initially appearing in television commercials and modeling for a Sears catalog. His first professional television role was Victor Graham on NBC's family drama Parenthood, where he appeared from 2012 to 2015 and became a series regular.

He followed the role with appearances in Major Crimes, Dealin' with Idiots, Rush Hour, Furst Born, and Twin Peaks. In 2018, he was cast as Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai, the continuation of The Karate Kid franchise. Miguel is Johnny Lawrence's first student, and Maridueña appeared in every episode of the series through its 2025 run.

For his early work on Parenthood, he won an Outstanding Young Ensemble award at the Young Artist Awards and received additional nominations. He later won the NHMC Impact Awards' Rising Star Impact Award.

Maridueña played Jaime Reyes, the teenager who becomes the superhero Blue Beetle, in the 2023 DC film Blue Beetle. The role was his first lead in a blockbuster film and brought him wider recognition beyond television. The character was also notable as the first Latino superhero to appear in a live-action film.

Maridueña has spoken about the importance of Latino representation through the role. He is set to reprise Jaime Reyes in Man of Tomorrow, and he has also been attached to the upcoming films Killing Castro, Practical Magic 2, and Dog Years.

His later screen work includes voicing Brainy Smurf in Smurfs, as well as voice roles in Batwheels, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Invincible. He was announced to play Portgas D. Ace in the third season of Netflix's One Piece.

In September 2021, Maridueña and Jacob Bertrand launched the Lone Lobos podcast, which they co-host. Bertrand also played Eli Moskowitz in Cobra Kai, linking the podcast to Maridueña's best-known television work.

Maridueña released his debut single, "On My Way," featuring singer Adriana Padilla, in 2023. His releases also include the 2024 EP The Scarab Tapes.

His producing credits include executive producing Silhouettes of Scarlet and the television project The Ledger.
