Lauren Graham

Lauren Graham was in a relationship with actor Peter Krause from 2010 to 2021. They first met when they appeared together on Caroline in the City and became a couple while co-starring on Parenthood, where they played siblings.

Graham has no children. She was formerly roommates with actress Connie Britton.

Graham was born in Honolulu to Donna Grant, a fashion buyer, and Lawrence Graham, a candy industry lobbyist who served as president of the National Confectioners Association. Her parents divorced when she was five, after which she moved with her father to the Washington, D.C., area. She also spent part of her childhood in Japan while her father worked for the Agency for International Development in Vietnam.

As a child, Graham rode horses competitively and initially wanted to become a jockey before turning to acting. She graduated from Langley High School in 1984, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Barnard College in 1988, and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting performance from Southern Methodist University. She earned her Actors' Equity card after performing in summer stock at the Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan.

Graham's breakthrough came in 2000 when she was cast as Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. The series ran for seven seasons, and Graham's performance earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series, Drama, as well as nominations from the Screen Actors Guild and the Television Critics Association. She also became a producer on the series during its seventh season.

She co-starred with Alexis Bledel on Gilmore Girls, which centered on the relationship between Lorelai and her daughter, Rory. Graham reprised Lorelai in the Netflix miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016.

In 2010, Graham joined Parenthood as Sarah Braverman, replacing Maura Tierney. The NBC drama ran from 2010 to 2015 and gave Graham a second major television role as a mother.

Graham's film credits include One True Thing, Sweet November, Bad Santa, The Pacifier, Because I Said So, Evan Almighty, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Max, Joshy, and Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life. She voiced Fran Lockwood in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Oxana Hauntley in the animated series Vampirina.

She made her Broadway debut as Miss Adelaide in the 2009 revival of Guys and Dolls at the Nederlander Theatre. The production opened in March 2009 and closed in June after 121 performances and 28 previews.

Later television roles included Bridget on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Joan on Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Alex Morrow on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, and Monica Frazier on The Z-Suite. Graham also served as a director and executive producer on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

Graham published her debut novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, in 2013. The comic novel fictionalized her experiences as an aspiring actress in 1990s New York and became a New York Times bestseller. She later worked on a television adaptation of the book, although the proposed series was not produced.

Her books also include the memoir Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between), published in 2016, the advice book In Conclusion, Don't Worry About It, published in 2018, and the essay collection Have I Told You This Already?, published in 2022. Talking as Fast as I Can and In Conclusion, Don't Worry About It also became New York Times bestsellers.
