XXXTentacion

XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, had one child. Three days after his death in June 2018, his mother, Cleopatra Bernard, announced that his girlfriend was pregnant. His son, Gekyume Onfroy, was born on January 26, 2019.

He had two half-siblings, an older sister named Ariana and a younger brother named Aiden. Throughout his life, Onfroy was open about his ongoing struggles with depression. In early 2018, he announced plans to continue his education by attending a community college to earn his GED. Prior to his death, he purchased a home in Parkland, Florida.

Born in Plantation, Florida, to Jamaican parents Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy and Cleopatra Bernard, Onfroy spent much of his childhood in Lauderhill and Pompano Beach, where he was primarily raised by his grandmother, Collette Jones. His interest in music developed during his youth, participating in school and church choirs, and later learning to play piano and guitar after listening to nu-metal, hard rock, and rap.

While held in a juvenile detention facility on gun possession charges, Onfroy met fellow artist Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne, known professionally as Ski Mask the Slump God. The two bonded over freestyling, and following their release, Onfroy bought recording equipment and began releasing music online. He adopted the stage name XXXTentacion and uploaded his first official track, "Vice City", to SoundCloud in 2014. He subsequently co-founded the Members Only musical collective alongside Ski Mask the Slump God.

XXXTentacion gained widespread attention with his single "Look at Me!", originally released in late 2015 and re-released in early 2017. The track reached number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following his inclusion in the 2017 XXL Freshman Class, he released his debut studio album, 17, on August 25, 2017. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and featured popular singles including "Jocelyn Flores", "Fuck Love", and "Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares".

His second studio album, ?, was released on March 16, 2018, and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The project showcased his versatility across alternative rock, acoustic, and trap styles, propelled by hit tracks such as "Changes", "Moonlight", and "Sad!". After his death, "Sad!" surged to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first lead artist to earn a posthumous number-one single since The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997.

On June 18, 2018, Onfroy was fatally shot at the age of 20 during an armed robbery outside a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Two assailants blocked his vehicle, stole a bag, and shot him before fleeing the scene. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Multiple individuals were later charged, convicted, and sentenced in connection with the murder.

Following his death, numerous posthumous recordings were completed and released. His third studio album, Skins, was issued in December 2018 and reached number one on the Billboard 200. His vocals were also featured on several high-profile collaborations, including "Falling Down" with Lil Peep, "Don't Cry" with Lil Wayne, "Arms Around You" alongside Lil Pump, Maluma, and Swae Lee, and "Scared of the Dark" for the soundtrack to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
